Our Story

He Said, She Said.

Olivia's Version

What started as a weekend trip turned into an adventure of a lifetime…

I decided it was finally time to head out to Sunny Southern California and put some faces to some names…my first experience with June Gloom. I had been selling Slunk shorts along with my Simply Cheeky Bikinis at AVP events and local beach volleyball tournaments all over my home state of Florida. I was invited to Laguna by Chris Reames (aka Creames)to meet in person and work the Laguna open while also attending the First Annual “Slunktion” on June 1 2019. Little did I know that my wedding would come 5 years later on the same day.

It was also the weekend when I met Frana my California mom…spirit animal…and huge fan of my fiancée!

Leading up to the big event I kept hearing the same name over and over again Mckay, Olivia you need to meet Mckay… McKay…McKay…McKay…(mostly from Frana)

Well I met him and It was pretty much the end of me!!

We spent the rest of the weekend together and made future plans to see each other twice in Florida. We spent two more crazy weekends together and then Mckay disappeared after he drunkenly told me he loved me by phone at the Hermosa AVP. Luckily he resurfaced with apologies on Monday morning and invited back to California for The Manhattan Beach AVP. I was introduced to Shellback Tavern and Fanta shots and almost died(Thanks Mitch for the bed) I puked/rallied and I think pretty much sealed the deal….

He asked me to move cross country and get a place together? The first time I said “yes”with no hesitation.

Well, it’s four years later, we survived Covid, meeting his protective best friends, me finding a job, working together, travel, some knockdown drag out fights, a puppy baby and too much fun to list and that brings me to the second “Yes” when Mckay proposed to me on a magical Viking journey in Norway!

Please join us when I say “yes”for the third time in front of all of our friends and family whom we love dearly

The soon to be…

Mckay's Version

June 1st 2019

It was a weekend that started much like any other, but changed my life for the better.

It started with a trip down the coast to Laguna Beach to attend a gathering known as a "SLUNKTION" by the locals. What began as a standard evening of cocktails, music, & conversing with friends was turned upside down when I met Olivia. We were quickly drawn to one another and spent the rest of the evening dancing in each other's arms. We spent an incredible weekend together and before I knew it, she was flying back home to Florida. It just so happens that I had two work trips to Florida planned already in the upcoming months. We proceeded to spend as much time together as possible while I was there. Our connection was quickly growing stronger. After my second trip to Florida, I began to think to myself, "How am I going to live 2,000 miles away from this amazing woman?" The answer was: I wasn't. So, it was time for solutions.

When our romance began, Olivia was working as a bartender and running her own bikini company. Two businesses perfect for the California lifestyle. At the same time, I was just about to move into my own apartment after getting the full-time coaching position at Long Beach State. So, I hit Olivia with my first big proposal. I told her, "Get a one-way ticket and come live with me in California. If you don't like it, you can always just go home to Florida." Welp, she still hasn't left. She made an incredible leap of faith and trusted me enough to come and give it a shot together. Not long after, the world was hit with pandemics, pandemonium and paranoia. Our relationship grew even stronger. I'll tell you what, if you can make it out of 2020 living in a small, one bedroom apartment with another person... then you will make it through anything life throws your way.

Fast-forward four years. She still hasn't gone back to Florida. So, it was time for my second big proposal. On July 16th , 2023, we found ourselves in Norway. We walked out to Nordnes Park around 10:30pm to catch the sunset. Nordnes Park is on a peninsula in the city of Bergen. The park looks out to where the Norwegian Sea meets the Arctic Sea. It was there that I dropped to a knee, and asked Olivia to spend the rest of her life with me. Thankfully, she replied, "Yes."
