Our Story

our story

Picture of our story

We feel very lucky to say that we have known each other our entire lives. Quite literally. I don't think you can get much closer than being born two days apart in the same hospital. Maybe it's a coincidence or just a small-town thing, but we feel as if we were made for each other.

Our relationship starts in pre-school. (Thank you to our parents for sending us to the same one.) McKayla had developed her first "crush" on Cameron and even called him her boyfriend. So naturally, McKayla tried to get Cameron's attention by kicking over a tower he was making out of foam sponges. Cameron then scratched the heels McKayla was wearing as payback...and the rest is history.

We would become good friends once we got to middle school. Having some similar classes, we found ourselves partnering up with activities and assignments. One of these assignments was the dreaded "mile time-trial" in gym class. Cameron would end up running the fastest time for the boys, while McKayla did the same for the girls. Cameron likes to joke that this is when his crush on McKayla began...and we also believe that those records still hold to this day.

High school for us started as just friends. A few shared classes, different friend groups, different sports. When we both turned 16, we both went for our learner's permit on the same day..at the same time... at the same DMV...unplanned.

By junior year, Cameron asked McKayla to semi...and to be his girlfriend that same day. Our first date was O'Neals Pub and we both remember exactly what we were wearing and what we ordered. The rest of high school was spent making memories at dances, homecoming rallies, sporting events, and having pretty much every class together senior year. The nickname "Varsity Couple" was given to us from people in our grade and even some teachers called us that. Senior year was full of so many memories that we'll never forget.

After high school, we both attended Bloomsburg University. A scary transition in anyone's life, but we were glad we had each other. Shortly into college, we would bring a little Corgi into our lives and she would make the whole world better. Shortly after college, we would both move to Sacramento, California and you know the rest.

You all, our family, have witnessed our relationship over the past 8 years and beyond. You all probably know the full story. From growing up just a mile away from each other, to now living 2,700 miles across the country together, we are so thankful for you all. Thank you for helping us become the people we are today and we cannot wait to celebrate our wedding day with you!
