Maxwell and McKenzie met during their first year at Siena College. After being friends for years, they started to date in 2020. Maxwell asked McKenzie to marry him in August 2023 at The Church of Saint Luke in the Fields in Manhattan, New York. They now live together in Albany with their orange cat, Otto Horus Frank Grant.
