Bryan and McKenzie met back in 2016 at South Plains College. They quickly became good friends. They both transferred to Texas Tech University where they later both graduated. They regularly hung out with each other by going to Texas Tech games, chilling at the pool, or attending concerts.

In 2020, they both graduated, but moved to different cities to start their career. Bryan went to Houston and McKenzie to San Antonio. The long distance didn't keep them from hanging out together though. In fact, they would continue to see each other about every 2 weeks. It was at this time that McKenzie and Bryan started gaining feelings for each other that were greater than just their friendship. At times, they would drive or fly to one another's house, but they found that meeting in the middle was just as fun. In between Houston and San Antonio are some little towns, such as Shiner, Columbus, and La Grange. These little towns became the foundation of their relationship.

On October 16, 2021, Bryan and McKenzie had officially started dating. They continued to meet in those little towns, in which they would go to breweries, wineries, parks, restaurants, and even church on Sunday. (Some of their favorite spots are on the Things To Do page!). Over the summer of 2023, they both moved to Austin where they no longer had to do long distance dating.

On December 23, 2023, Bryan made reservations at a dumpling place called Lin Asian Bar. McKenzie was very excited because they had been talking about trying the soup dumplings there ever since they moved to Austin. The dumplings did not disappoint. After that, Bryan took McKenzie to a nearby park in downtown Austin that had a ton of trails, creeks, and even free-roaming peacocks. It was at this place that Bryan got down on one knee and asked McKenzie to marry him. They celebrated being newly engaged by going to a comedy show at their favorite spot in town, Comedy Mothership. Bryan had planned the perfect day to propose to McKenzie! When the wedding planning started, they both knew exactly where they wanted to get married: in one of the little towns they met up in for so many years.

So if you're wondering, "why La Grange, TX?", the answer is because it's where their love for each other blossomed. Still to this day, Bryan and McKenzie make their way down to Shiner, Columbus, and La Grange. They hope that while celebrating with them in La Grange, you take some time to check out some of their favorite spots!
