Jerick and McKenzie met in 2020 when Jerick needed a ride home after a night out with his friends in Aberdeen. Initially, they met online and had been chatting for only a day or so. Despite McKenzie's reluctance towards driving a stranger home, she picked Jerick up, bought him McDonald's and got him home safe and sound! After getting to know each other better, Jerick decided to return the favor by hosting a movie night paired with Domino's pizza. (One of their favorites!)

From that point on, Jerick and McKenzie would travel to visit each other from Aberdeen to Brookings, where Jerick lived. Eventually she moved to Brookings, where they began the start of their life together. Adopting their pets, starting new careers and navigating adulthood by each other's sides! When they finally settled in their first home in Bath, SD, Jerick decided it was time for McKenzie to become his wife.
