Little to our knowledge, and many months after dating Joel and I discovered that we had met each other long before we started to date. Our first meeting was Christmas night in 2017, I was doing my first ride-along with the Central Huron Ambulance Service (CHAS). We had been called to a large structure fire to stand-by in case of need and Joel was there that night with Bad Axe Area Fire Department (BAAFD) helping fight the fire. Small talk was exchanged however neither of us knew what was to become.
A few years later our paths crossed again on Halloween night in 2019 while passing out candy with our responding services. It's safe to say I caught Joel's eye that night, as he asked his best man today, "Who's that new hot blonde with the ambulance?" Again small talk was exchanged and we went on our separate ways.
Finally, a few months later I was working a shift CHAS and the best man was bragging about his friend Joel. How great he was and everything in between. He seemed like a guy I wanted to get to know, so I friend-requested him on Facebook. After a few hours of just "liking" each other's posts and commenting on pictures, I decided to reach out to him privately. We talked all night long and the rest became history...
In April of 2020 we had made our relationship official during the height of COVID. Henry wasn't too sure of Joel at first, but he warmed up to him pretty quick. And after 3 short months of knowing each other Joel had asked me and Henry to move in with him. At first, I wasn't sure it was such a good idea, but not much else was going on during COVID so we jumped off the deep end.
In July, 2020 we moved into our home on Butler St in Bad Axe and it's been the best decision of our lives. We spent the next several years from 2021 to 2023 we built the strongest foundation for our relationship by enduring long working hours, nursing school, and advancing our licenses in EMS. And all those years we continued to love on our sweet boy Henry.
In November of 2023, Joel asked me to be apart of his life forever and marry him. Joel proposed in our home where our love grew in front of our fireplace. I was graduating nursing school in just a few weeks and he had bought me a beautiful new stethoscope to which he had engraved "Will You Marry Me?" When I looked up Joel was on one knee with the most beautiful ring.
As our relationship comes to "close" in October of 2025, we are so excited to have our marriage begin and celebrate our love with all of our guests!
