What can I expect at a Catholic wedding?

For guests who may not have attended a Catholic wedding before, we wanted to share a bit about what the ceremony will include. In the Catholic Church, marriage is one of the seven sacraments. Marriage is a sacred covenant before God. During the ceremony, we will exchange vows, rings, and receive a nuptial blessing as we begin our life together. Our ceremony will include three Scripture readings, a brief homily (reflection), prayers, and blessings. This is a full Catholic Mass, and the Eucharist (communion) will be distributed. If you are Catholic and in a state of grace we welcome you to receive the Eucharist. If you are not Catholic, we welcome you to cross your arms over your chest when you approach the priest to receive a blessing. The ceremony will last 45-60 minutes. An Order of Mass book will be provided at the entrance of the Cathedral which will include helpful information for guests throughout the Nuptial Mass.

What is the dress code?

Formal or semi-formal.

Can I bring a plus-one?

We feel so lucky to be surrounded by so much love, and because our wedding will be quite large, we kindly ask that guests attend without a plus-one. Each invite will include the names of those invited, and everyone listed will be able to RSVP so we can celebrate together.

What is the shuttle?

The purpose of the shuttle is to allow guests a safe ride to and from the Kleffner Barn. This shuttle is a party bus named 406 Adventure Bus. Specific info is on the “shuttle schedule” page of the website.

Are kids allowed at the ceremony and reception?

We love little ones and are excited to celebrate with them—if your children’s names are on the invitation, they’re welcome to join the fun!

What is the distance between the Cathedral of St Helena and Kleffner Barn?

It is a 12 minute drive.

Will there be enough time to enjoy cocktail hour while traveling from the ceremony to the reception?

Yes! Cocktail hour kicks off at 4:30pm, 30 minutes after the ceremony, and runs until 5:30pm. That way everyone has time to make it to the reception, grab a drink, and get in party mode before the real fun begins!
