In September 2021 I was done with dating deleted all dating apps and accepted I would be great single. In true Meagan fashion, I changed my mind went back into POF one last time. Within a couple days I matched with a Puerto Rican from Danville just my type 🥰. God blessed him and he messaged me on a Saturday morning. I probably wasn’t the nicest due to being done with the dating scene. We started talking he was doing laundry that’s when I found out he was blue collar. We both agreed about today’s dating scene we were older and appreciated blunt and honestly which I could do. Both of us single no children never been married very rare for our ages. We continued talking daily on the phone and text. 

One morning on the way to Tutor Time I made the biggest mistake I had ever made there in twenty years I forgot my keys to open the school at 6am. I freaked out I couldn’t go home to get the keys it being 45 minutes away so I had to call and wake up my director to bring me the keys since she was only 20 minutes away. While sitting and waiting for the keys so angry with myself talking with Hugo he said something that made me think WOW he is truly a good one. Hugo asked me that morning ”how was I and if I’m okay“ I said I messed up what do you mean. And he said it again and I just sat there in my car thinking wow nobody has ever asked me that before. I knew then from that morning he was special! 

We made a plan to meet in Champaign Illinois a neutral place to meet for the first time. On November 27th we met at Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. Yes, people had my location just in case he was a murderer but we had talked for a solid 2 1/2 months before meeting and with my spidey sense I felt I was good. 

I was on time for the date he was late. If you ask Hugo he will say that the moment he walked to my car in the parking lot he knew that day I was the one he was going to marry. 🥰 

We went in got a table within 5 minutes he said he had to get something out of his car, he left I texted my sister and said “oh crap I think he just just left me here”. He came in I wasn’t ghosted on the first date! Ohio State was playing Michigan State so of course I switched seats so he could watch the game. That day going forward started a long distance relationship with trips to Champaign every other weekend. 
July 2022 we were done with the distance, he made the decision to get a job in my area and came to live with me in Grant Park, Illinois. 

August 2023 we purchased our house in Grant park thanks to my brother. We bought his house which is perfect for us. 

October 2023 we adopted our fur baby girl Stella which was a gift from heaven. She was a 4 month old blue Pitt bull mix from NAWS. 

November 2023, Hugo went to have a conversation with my grandpa Donald Lange and asked his permission if he could have my hand in marriage. 

March 2024 we got engaged and my true me fashion I ruined that by asking too many questions so we got engaged without a ring. 

With our time getting to know each other we learned we grew up in similar households with similar values and views in life. 

I quickly fell in love with Hugo realizing he was my calm in this storm known as life. He was my protector from the first time and does a fantastic job managing the best parts of me.
