Eric and I met the good ol’fashioned way of “swiping right”. We matched on Hinge in May of 2020 and didn’t officially meet until July 11, 2020. Our first date was extremely romantic and chaotic at the same time. Since Eric was waiting for new plates for his car, we decided I should drive my beater of a car to white plains. During the drive down I started to see clear signs of a failing alternator. By some miracle I was able to make it down to White Plains.
Without even saying hello, I told Eric my car probably wouldn’t make it to dinner. We took the risk anyway and drove it to Bar Taco in Portchester. After dinner, we were both laughing about my car dying on the way back to White Plains. Wouldn’t you know it, my car died 2 blocks from his house.
While we waited for a tow truck we spent hours just laughing and dancing in the street (well Eric was dancing in the street, I was too embarrassed to do anything). It was during those few hours that we shared our first kiss and from that moment on, we both knew something about this felt different.
We ended up meeting for dinner again a few days later and by the third week of seeing each other, we made it official!
Fast forward to July 11, 2022. It was our two year anniversary. Each year we go back to the same place we had our first date. When we arrived at Bar Taco, Eric insisted that we walk around while we wait for our table to be ready. After the second lap, Eric took my hands, he looked me in the eyes and said “I love you” and I replied “I’ll love you forever”. In Eric fashion, he unzipped his fanny pack, got down on one knee and proposed! What made that moment even more special was he secretly had both our families waiting for us in the restaurant to celebrate our engagement!
