Our Story

Love and Breakfast

Picture of Love and Breakfast

It was love at first sight. Medical school was about to start next week, but we were about to embark on a weekend in the woods of New Hampshire with our future classmates. We were getting our bags packed on the old golf course next to the medical school when a Meaghan walked up to a Thomas. They didn't know it yet; it was brief but it was the beginning of a lifetime together. After that brief exchange where Meaghan made fun of Tom's blue B4 West Point shirt, they went their separate ways hiking and camping in the mountains.

The weekend came and went, each making new friends, but as you can guess that was not the end. Tom, with his incredible charm, good looks, and way with words, asked Meaghan to breakfast the next morning. We met at Lou's in downtown Hanover. While waiting for our table, we sat outside on one of the many wooden benches and started talking. We waited for 30 minutes for a seat outside (anyone who has tried to get a seat at Lou's on a summer weekend knows that honestly wasn't that long to wait). In that 30 minutes conversation flowed effortlessly and neither wanted the moment to end. And the moment didn't end. Once we finished breakfast, the conversation continued as we walked over to pick up our new Dartmouth student IDs. And it didn't end there either. For the next hour Meaghan and Tom stood on the corner of Wheelock and Main Street under the shade of a tree across from the Hanover Inn and kept talking. Some say the conversation never ended... and now it never has to!

And since then, we have visited and driven through 27/50 States and 2 countries (Canada and Mexico). Been to 6 National Parks (Acadia, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Badlands, Great Smoky Mountains, and Shenandoah). We have spent many nights in tents. Seen Army and Air Force football play in Dallas, TX. Heard Ed Sheeran and Jon Pardi play live. Lived in San Francisco, CA for 2 months doing an Internal Medicine rotation and traveled all across New England for our other medical rotations. We have cooked countless meals, and have supported each other through the highs and lows of medical school. And Tom got down on one knee and asked Meaghan to marry him.

Here's to a lifetime of more memories to make and adventures to take together!

With lots of love, Meaghan and Tom
