Our Story

Devyn and Meg met at the beginning of their freshman year of high school, and quickly became best friends. They spent the next two years attached at the hip, while trying to navigate unspoken feelings for each other. The summer after sophomore year Meg asked Devyn to be her girlfriend, and she said yes.

That summer was filled with the incomparable pure magic of love at 16 years old; endless sunny days on the lake eating wild blueberries, slow dancing under the stars, and sneaking away for romantic moments in the light of a million glow sticks. Before the beginning of the school year an unfortunate collision of teenage angst caused a break up that left both young women deeply devastated.

Fast forward 10 years. Devyn and Meg have each had a series of unhappy relationships, and have still not talked to each other at all, though they have never stopped thinking of each other through all the years and distance.

One afternoon in August 2022, on a whim or in a twist of fate, Meg reached out to Devyn and asked if she wanted to catch up. Devyn called Meg as soon as she got off of work, and they talked until 3am that night…and the next night..and the night after that…

At this point Meg was temporarily living in Indiana and Devyn was living in Maine. Devyn took a giant leap of faith, got on a plane, and flew to Indiana just two weeks later to find out if this connection was as real as it had always felt. The magic had never left the two’s hearts, and there was no question in either's mind that they were meant for each other.

One month and one classic lesbian U-haul move later, Meg settled in with Devyn in Maine, along with fur-babies Otis and Larry.

The past year together has been filled with unbelievable amounts of love and support, laughter, tears, growth, and learning. On the morning of May 7th, 2023, Meg brought Devyn to Crescent Beach at sunrise, and, with a pebble in her hands (because she was too excited to wait for Devyn’s custom engagement ring to arrive), asked Devyn to be her wife… and she said YES!

Penguins give each other pebbles as tokens of love and commitment, and penguins mate for life. We can't wait to see what the coming chapters hold as we enter them hand in hand (or flipper in flipper.)
