We first met when we sat across from each other in 7th grade science class at WoodCreek Jr. High. We were both 12 years old at the time. We "dated" from the age of 12 to 15, but it fizzled out freshman year of high school when we became involved in different interests and clubs. We didn't talk for the remainder of high school. Our schedules were completely different, so we never had classes together or saw each other until after graduation. After not talking for about 5 years and going to different colleges, our shared best friend (and our wedding officiant), Marco Casso, convinced us to hang out with each other. After a day of mini golfing, we kept in touch and remained friends while I was in a relationship someone else. After that relationship ended, Dylan and I decided to give our relationship another try. Four amazing years later, here we are!
The week before he proposed, Dylan asked me if I wanted to go to a nice lunch that weekend. He also mentioned that there was a puppy adoption at a shopping center nearby, and we could make a day out of it. I agreed, and I had a small feeling that maybe he was asking because he was going to propose. We had already been together for four years, plus we never go anywhere, so I knew it had to be a special occasion. We ended up going to Fogo de Chao for lunch, and then headed to where the puppy adoption was supposed to be. He definitely did not end up taking me to a puppy adoption event, but to a pond with a water fountain. Dylan grabbed my hand and said "I want to show you something" as he guided me to in front of the water fountain. Sitting in front of the fountain was a tub of ice with a bottle of champagne, champagne glasses, and a bouquet of flowers. He handed the bouquet of flowers to me and got down on one knee. Honestly, what Dylan said when he proposed is a blur- I think I was in shock that it was happening (haha). After the proposal, Dylan hugged me, and our friends Kayla and Stephen came out from behind some bushes with their phones videotaping and taking pictures of the whole proposal. In the end, I was disappointed that I did not get to see puppies... but absolutely beyond excited to be engaged to the love of my life!
