Nick and I went on our "Marriage Prep" Catholic Engaged Encounter retreat that helps facilitate a special time of engagement before we marry in the Catholic Church. During this retreat, Nick and I wrote betrothals and read them aloud to each other.

These Betrothals are public pledges of love and commitment to one another as we prepare for the sacrament of Marriage. They are usually written as vows or love letters. They focus on our relationship and how it's related to God.

Nick and I wanted to share these betrothals with family and friends since they are meant to be public pledges of our love! This page seems to be the perfect platform to share with you.

Nick:

Megan Elizabeth Anderson, from our very first time talking I knew there was something special about you. Your ability to go head first into any situation with confidence grabbed my attention. After getting to know you more I wanted nothing more than to ask you on a date. However, you beat me to it and asked me out first. We continued talking and eventually you became impatient and asked me if I was going to make you wait another 3 weeks to see each other. I eventually came up with a date in those 3 weeks. That first actual date is when I knew we were meant for each other. We could not stop talking, smiling at each other, or touching each other's arms. The conversation was so easy and felt as though I was talking with my best friend. Eventually, after many dates, I had the courage to ask you to be my girlfriend. This is when the real fun began. Over the last 2 1/12 years you have become more than my best friend but the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. You have shown me compassion, support, and love when I am at my lowest. You have also given me the confidence to come back to the Catholic faith. I have seen how important your faith is to you and how it has made you into the person you are today. You give me strength and hope that you will continue this journey with me on my way to learn more about God and eventually to Heaven. You have been my biggest cheerleader and my biggest support. That is why I promise to always support you in your journey through life. I want to be there for your high’s and low’s to give you love, compassion, and support. I cannot wait to grow old with you through whatever life has to throw at us.

Nicholas Eric, I love you so much. I cannot wait to marry you. These past few years of knowing you have certainly been the sweetest, and full of the most love I have ever experienced. I will forever be in awe of our story and God's plan he had for us. It is something I cannot wait to share with our kids one day. That story is a true testament to trust and taking a chance. The most important part is what has lead or what will lead from that story. I will never have the right words or enough words to tell you how thankful I am that God led me to you and you to me. You have grown into the most perfect man. You have the world's biggest heart that only grows bigger as you continue to be so, so giving. Yet you have such a strong core and shell to protect and carry our future family. You are my best friend, my crush, my shoulder, my prince, my partner, and my love. I constantly think about our upcoming wedding day and the moment I get to walk down the aisle to you. I think about it so much because I cannot wait to experience that amount of happiness, love, and joy together as we promise our lives to one another. I pledge to pray for our foundation, our love, our future, and you everyday for not only the next 100 days until June 10th but everyday after that. I love and respect how caring and supportive you are for everyone around you. It makes me want to be better in those areas and truly be intentional, like you. You are, forever, my better half. I will love and care for you until death do we part. I can only hope our souls at least get to be next to each other in Heaven.
