In February of 2016, my company was hosting an event in Charleston that I had Boxcar Betty's cater. It was the best chicken I'd ever had, Ian delivered it himself, and he helped me set up the tables, chairs and linens before the event. I was impressed, so I continued to order Boxcar and cross paths with Ian whenever he would deliver my orders. Summer 2017 came, and we ran into each other at Friends trivia night at Bay Street Biergarten, where Ian suggested we meet up for a drink soon. About a week later, we met at the Granary for drinks that turned into a kickass 3 hour dinner date. We both went home knowing that was one of the best dates we'd ever been on. A few days later, we saw each other again. And again the next day. And the next day. And the next. Before we knew it, we were on our way to Asheville together escaping a hurricane headed Charleston's way (with my entire wardrobe in tow - thanks to Ian's quick packing skills and large truck bed!). A few days later, Ian and I made our way home from Asheville on a beautiful sunny afternoon. I remember we were having a deep conversation about our past, values, etc., when I looked over at him in the driver's seat of his truck. He was listening so intently to every word I was saying. He always listened to me so intently. That, along with all of Ian's other amazing qualities, made me all of a sudden have this really strong feeling overcome me that told me "this is it. He's the one." So we quickly got more serious, started to travel together, moved in together, celebrated holidays with each other's families, and decided we wanted to go to Italy together in the fall. Oct 16th, 2018 came, and we were on a plane to Milan! Three days into our trip, Ian and I had just arrived in Bellagio by ferry (our favorite stop of the trip) exploring the Giardini di Villa Melzi. As if I wasn't already having the best vacation of my life, I turn around and there's my man, down on one knee, asking me to marry him! It felt so natural to say yes, just like it has felt so natural to be with him every single day since summer 2017. We are so excited to get married in October, and we are so thankful that you'll be there to celebrate with us!
