Our Story

as told by Michael

It’s funny how life has a way of rerouting you when you least expect it. We never thought a stomach problem would lead us here, but that’s exactly how it happened.

In July of 2021, Michael traveled to NYC to see a gastroenterologist at the old age of 24. While waiting for his appointment, he decided to do some swiping on the popular dating app Bumble. It just so happened that Megan downloaded the app that very same day! Because Michael was in the city, their location radiuses overlapped. Both of them had their match radius set to 25 miles, and Michael was living 40 miles away in Somers at the time.

He of course used one of his super-likes (a paid feature) on her profile. It was that super-like that made Megan start the conversation because she initially thought he was out of her league even if they matched.

On their first date that last weekend of August, they planned to meet in Grand Central Terminal. It was already an adventure to get there, as Megan stepped on an old woman on the subway and then got lost in Grand Central. Like a New York movie, she finally found him under the Grand Central Clock in the main concourse. They went to an Italian restaurant for dinner (no surprise there), where Michael spent most of the meal talking about his family dog, Cooper. Not wanting the night to end, they wandered all over the city, letting adventure take the lead. Nothing says “first date” quite like sipping margaritas at Dave &amp; Buster’s while playing greasy arcade games surrounded by screaming children.

Still not wanting to part ways, they planned their second date for the next weekend: a Yankee game. Like most games Megan attends, the Yankees lost to the Orioles. Afterward, they sat outside Billy’s Sports Bar talking for three hours, and of course, made plans to meet again the following weekend.

This time, Megan made the trek to Westchester. Upon entering Michael’s house, she was promptly tackled by Cooper, who sat on her and refused to move. And that was his parents’ first impression of her.

Michael accepted that Megan might be the Yankees’ bad luck charm when they went to another game the next weekend where the Yankees lost to the Guardians. Their streak of weekends together finally ended when Megan left on a cruise with her mom. (To be fair, Michael was invited but couldn’t get off work in time.) It was during that stretch apart that they realized they were in it for the long haul.

He made it official a week and a half after she returned. Over four years later, that remains the only weekend they’ve spent apart.

From high school dance teammates to roommates, proudly calling themselves “house sisters,” their friendship has been filled with laughter and unforgettable memories, including many magical days at Disney together.

Michael's childhood friend.  Teammates on the diamond, Used To Be's drinking buddies, and bubble ski lift enjoyers. Conor's loyalty as a Mets fan says a lot about his commitment and Michael is grateful to have him as a groomsman.

Megan’s sister-in-law has been in her life for nearly 20 years. Fun-loving, lively, and always the life of the party, she is sure to light up any room she enters. Megan couldn’t imagine celebrating this day without her.

Megan’s older brother equipped her to handle Michael’s antics and video game competitiveness, and Michael couldn’t be more grateful. Michael is honored to be gaining him as a brother.

Michael’s sister has been a wonderful friend and confidante to Megan. They share a love of books, and a mutual sense of humor about surviving life with Michael. Megan is thrilled to have her standing by her side and excited to officially become part of the family.

The groom’s cousin may be a few years younger and attended the same college after him, but they’ve always stayed close. He’s known for constantly asking the groom questions—sometimes serious, mostly just curious. Michael is grateful for their connection and proud to have his cousin standing with him on his wedding day.

Bobby Henry

Michael’s youngest sister brings laughter and happiness wherever she goes. She always makes Megan feel welcome at family gatherings and is always up for a game night. Megan couldn’t be happier to gain not one, but two sisters.

The groom’s youngest cousin has always been someone he looks forward to spending time with. They’ve shared countless fishing trips, enjoying the quiet mornings and friendly competition on the water. Michael values their bond and is excited to have his cousin standing by his side on his wedding day.

To and From Wedding Venues

We will provide complimentary shuttle service from Walt Disney World Swan Reserve to the Wedding Pavilion beginning before the ceremony at 4:00 PM. Shuttle service will also be provided back to the Swan Reserve for the reception.Please note: If a large number of guests are staying at another hotel, we will arrange shuttle pick up from there as well.

Private Transportation

Book private transportation (and/or strollers!) with Away We Go. Each van can accommodate up to 11 passengers, and is based on a flat rate instead of per person. Water cases are also available for purchase and delivery with your ride. Prices per van to/from the MCO airport start at $109, and $35 within the Disney Resort area. Non-Disney Owned Hotels

As Marriott-owned properties, guests can earn and redeem points through the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. They may not be owned by Disney, but are located on Disney property and receive many exclusive Disney World benefits, such as early theme park entry. Guests at these hotels are treated as if they are staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts.

Reception will take place at this hotel. For those of you planning a Walt Disney World vacation, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are within walking distance. Or walk across the street to Walt Disney World Swan Hotel and catch a FriendShip Boat (recommended) departing every 15-20 mins. Disney's Boardwalk is also located across the street with a promenade of shops and restaurants.

Situated next to Disney's Boardwalk, take a complimentary FriendShip from the boat dock to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or feel free to take a leisurely stroll. Boats depart every 15-20 minutes. They also offer complimentary transportation to all Walt Disney World parks and attractions, including Disney Springs. Buses depart every 20-30 minutes.

Disney Deluxe Resort Hotels

Disney Deluxe Resorts are high-end hotels at Walt Disney World offering premium amenities, convenient park access, and fine dining. All hotels offer complimentary bus service with buses departing every 20-30 minutes to all theme parks. Many are within walking distance to a theme park. In addition to Early Theme Park Entry, guests staying at Deluxe Resorts can take advantage of Extended Evening Hours at theme parks on select nights.

Ceremony will take place next to this hotel. Victorian elegance meets modern sophistication&nbsp;at this lavish hotel. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort &amp; Spa is located close to Magic Kingdom park. Conveniently walk, take a water taxi, or ride the monorail to Magic Kingdom. Access EPCOT with just one transfer on the monorail.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

A personal favorite of ours. The Yacht Club offers a quieter, more sophisticated, and adult-focused atmosphere with an elegant nautical theme while the Beach Club provides a fun, lively, and casual beach vibe. These connected resorts are home to the largest pool complex on Disney property with a three-acre water wonderland featuring a lazy river, a shipwreck water slide, and a sand bottom pool. Both resorts are a quick walk to Disneys Boardwalk or the International Gateway, a secondary entrance to EPCOT, located in the World Showcase between the United Kingdom and France pavilions.

Disney's Yacht (and Beach Club) Resort

Experience the charm and whimsy of turn-of-the-century Atlantic City at this waterfront Resort hotel. Just steps away from Disney's Boardwalk, filled with dining and live street performers. Enjoy family-friendly activities each day, like themed pool parties with pool games, relays, trivia and more. A short walk or FriendShip boat stop away from EPCOT's International Gateway.

Disney Moderate Resorts

Disney World's Moderate Resorts are mid-priced options offering expansive grounds and detailed themes. Typically a further distance to the parks than Deluxe Resorts, but standard with complimentary bus transportation to all parks. Guests staying at Moderate Resorts can take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry hours.

This expansive Southwestern themed resort is complete with Lago Dorado, a 22-acre lake, in the center. Around the lake, you can find a hub of activities known as Villa de Lago featuring Three Bridges Bar &amp; Grill where you can relax by a glowing fire pit in the evening as you sip on refreshing beverages.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Divided into Alligator Bayou (bayou) and Magnolia Bend (mansions),&nbsp;Port Orleans Riverside offers&nbsp;rich wilderness in the bayou and perfectly manicured gardens around the mansions. Take a stroll or relax on a horse-drawn carriage ride (additional fee) along the scenic banks of the Sassagoula River. Complimentary water taxis make it easy to get to Disney Springs.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

Discover cobblestone streets, gas lamps, wrought-iron balconies and fragrant magnolia blossoms, along with colorful Mardi Gras characters and the sounds of jazz.&nbsp;Sip on hurricanes at Scat Cat's Club, which is also the only place offering up Mickey shaped beignets at Walt Disney World! Stroll along the water’s edge, play afternoon midway games and discover evening street performers. Grab drinks at the magician-themed AbracadaBar or savor Italian classics at Trattoria al Forno. You're sure to make memories if you rent a 2-4 person surrey bike (prices vary) and cruise around Crescent Lake.

Disney's Boardwalk

Located next to Disney's Swan Reserve. Delight in two 18-hole miniature golf adventures based on Disney's classic animated film&nbsp;Fantasia.
