Jordan and I met in Hilton Head, South Carolina, in March of 2021 as sophomores at UNC. We were invited to a spring break trip by mutual friends in Jordan’s fraternity, and a couple days later, we talked for hours on end, followed by a six-hour car ride home after we had just met. It turned out we lived in apartment complexes right next to each other in Chapel Hill, and over the next month we became inseparable, starting to date in April.
We faced our share of challenges early on in our relationship, but after going our separate ways during the summer of 2021, we reconnected in Chapel Hill in October. When we started dating again, it became evident that we would be best friends, and the Lord had used that time apart to our benefit. We are so thankful that God brought us together in college, as we shared an abundance of time together, never living more than two minutes apart for two years. We enjoyed going to football and basketball games, many trips to Que Chula, (Jordan’s) cooking, all of our spring break trips, rushing Franklin Street, frequent walks, and intense games of Bananagrams. Living life together in Chapel Hill with our friends was such a joyful time that we will forever look back on with the fondest memories.
After our graduation, Jordan began a job at Fidelity Investments, and I began teaching seventh grade English. Additionally, we both became members of Christ Community Church in Chapel Hill. On October 3, 2023, I took a day off work to travel to the mountains with Jordan. We shared an exciting day of hiking, eating great food, and exploring the town. After dinner, Jordan pulled over on the Blue Ridge Parkway outside of Blowing Rock, NC. As the sun set over the mountains, Jordan asked me to be his wife!
Our time together thus far has been characterized by the little moments and the big moments of joy, love, repentance, pushing each other toward Christ, failing, working through the trials and the brokenness, all while developing a friendship and a companionship that we pray will only be strengthened with time. We are thankful for all of you who have been a part of our story so far, and are excited to see what the Lord has in store for the future!
