Darcy and I met in 1st year at the University of Guelph (Go Gryphons!) but didn’t start dating until 3rd year on St. Patrick’s Day. Fast forward 10 years to another St. Patrick's Day, where Darcy planned a day of hiking and eating in Goderich to celebrate. I thought maybe he would propose, the most likely place would be the hike. Darcy had talked about the lookout spots and the big bridge over the lake and river. In the end we just went on a nice hike, but no proposal. After the hike we went out for dinner at a quaint little restaurant in town, which was a beautiful way in what I thought was to cap off our day. As we left the restaurant Darcy wanted to check out the lakefront. I wasn’t opposed because the sun was going to set in the next 30 minutes or so, and I love sunsets. It was an evening in March, warm weather was not in the forecast, I was content in staying in the car to look at the water. However, Darcy was adamant to get out and walk. After walking the boardwalk and stopping to look at the sunset Darcy got on one knee and proposed. Of course I said yes!
