Utah is home to 5 national parks, soaring peaks, Olympic sites, hidden food gems and amazing hikes. Whether you choose to stay in town for the weekend or the week we wanted to share some of our favorite spots with you that we love and hope you have the chance to check out.
If you are looking to get out of the city this is a 4.5 out and back trail to a series of milky blue colored hot spring pools. There are no facilities at the hot springs so go in prepared with a towel and dry clothes to change into after.
The Snowbird spa offers a variety of spa treatments (book in advance) and also day passes to access their heated rooftop pool and hot tub that provide sweeping views of the mountains. Along with the spa you can opt to take a scenic tram ride while visiting Snowbird to soar to 11,000 ft. With dining and hotel options on site this an option for those who want to extend their getaway. Accessing Snowbird does require a vehicle as buses do not run in August.
Fun for all ages, home to lions, giraffes, a red panda, and much more this is a great place to spend the afternoon.
Built in 2002 for the Salt Lake City Winter games, Utah Olympic Park is located in Park City, just 25 miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah. This houses sliding tracks, ski jumps, an Olympic freestyle pool, and the 2002 Winter Games Museum.
SLC hangs out a bit above sea level making hiking with huge elevation changes more challenging. If you are interested in seeing the beauty of our backyard without having to work too hard we recommend jumping on the pipeline trail in Millcreek canyon.
By far our favorite Brewery in SLC. The most delicious 5% draft beer you will find (plus high point cans, wine, cider, etc), a dog friendly patio, and rotating food truck. A must see spot! One thing to note is that Utah has very strict liquor laws, if you do not have your ID with you (even if you're well over 21) they will not let you in. If a spot is designated as a bar, not a restaurant, they will not let kiddos in.
An excellent spot for a great cocktail or killer brunch!
If your looking for a more intimate dining experience, located up a beautiful canyon, this is it.
Can't ever go wrong hiking/driving around big and little cottonwood canyons and then grabbing a dive meal on the patio while listening to live music.
