Frequently Asked Questions And Their Hopefully Thorough Answers

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP by March 31st! We need to get final numbers for food and attendance to our venue to ensure we can accommodate everyone.

What are the wedding basics?

Wedding day is Saturday, April 18th starting at 5:00PM CT at Cafe Brauer in Chicago. All wedding day events, from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception, will take place at Cafe Brauer! Sunday, April 19th, has no set wedding events and we hope you spend it exploring the city we love (or recovering from all the fun).

What should I wear?

Cocktail attire please! Dresses, jumpsuits, suits and pantsuits or a fun blazer, we want everyone to look good and feel good! We're hoping to dance the night away, so comfortable footwear wouldn't hurt.

Chicago in April - is it nice?

Yes, and no. Chicago is a wonderful city but can be a tad mercurial when it comes to weather - April showers (or snow) may bring May flowers! We recommend checking your weather app to see if you need a coat or an umbrella. Don't worry, come rain or shine, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will be inside. If we get nice weather, we can venture into the Zoo to say hello to the penguins!

When should I arrive?

Please arrive between 5:00pm and 5:15pm! While Megan sometimes plays fast and loose with timeliness, she will be promptly on time for the ceremony and hopes you will be too - latecomers will be asked to stay in the lobby and can join the party at cocktail hour.

How can I get to Cafe Brauer by car?

We recommend taking a taxi, Uber, or Lyft or driving and parking on the street or parking lots/garages near the Lincoln Park Zoo. If you're taking an Uber/Lyft/taxi, head to the Cafe Brauer Gate at 2021 N Stockton Drive. If you're driving and parking at the Zoo, check out the Travel page for parking and garage options!

How do I get to the venue by public transit?

The nearest 'L' station is Sedgwick on the Brown and Purple Lines, about a 10-minute walk from Café Brauer. Alternatively, the Clark/Division station on the Red Line is approximately a 17-minute walk away. The closest bus stop is Stockton & Armitage (South), just a 2-minute walk from Café Brauer. Nearby stops include Clark & Armitage (North) and Armitage & Clark (East), both approximately 4 minutes away on foot. You can take the 151 Sheridan, 156 LaSalle, 22 Clark, or 73 Armitage buses.

What should I expect on wedding day?

Please arrive at 5pm for our ceremony; after the ceremony in the Great Hall, we'll immediately move into the North Loggia for cocktail hour. After cocktail hour, we'll have dinner before moving into the party! Our wedding celebration will end on Cinderella time, as the clock strikes midnight.

Can I bring my kids to the wedding?

We are having an adults only event, so we request no kids please! We understand with babies it's hard to separate from their parents - please let us know if this will be an issue and we will do our best to accommodate). If we have enough interest, we are looking into booking a babysitter at the hotel to entertain and feed the kiddos so their parents can enjoy and let loose at the party! Please contact Megan or John if you have questions.

Can I bring a date?

Due to limited space, attendance is limited to the people listed on your invitation.

Where should I stay?

We will have a wedding block at Claridge House in Gold Coast. If you don't want to stay in the hotel, we recommend you stay in the Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Old Town, or Lakeview areas. That way, you'll be close by to the venue! If you're hoping to explore more of the city, we recommend staying at a hotel or Airbnb or VRBO close to the Brown or Red L lines, which you can take to explore the city but also have stations close to the venue (Sedgwick for Brown, Clark/Division for Red).

What should I know about food and drink options?

We'll have a variety of small bites, including vegetarian options, at our cocktail hour, plus three dinner options including a vegetarian dish. We'll have an open bar for cocktail hour, wine service during dinner, and an open bar for reception!

I'm a budding photographer/influencer/vlogger, can I practice my skills?

While our ceremony will be unplugged and we ask that you don't take photos or videos then, we encourage you to take photos from cocktail hour and the reception and share with the bride and groom! They would love to see your candids of all the fun moments throughout the night. We will also have a photo booth during the reception!

Help, I need something day of - who should I ask?

If you need help with anything leading up to our wedding, please contact Megan or John. On wedding day, they will be focused on enjoying the moment and won't be available for questions - at this point, please find our wonderful planner Angela!
