Megan and Ty met in August 2019, shortly after connecting online (thanks Hinge). Ty was impressed right away by Megan’s openness, generosity, and infectious personality, and the fact that she spontaneously pulled out a set of dice for a game of Farkle on their second date. Megan was instantly drawn to Ty’s style, confidence, and warmth, and impressed by the way he spoke about friends, family, dedication, and gratitude in life. After some superb early dates exploring their shared passion for local food and drink, Ty was generously gifted a pair of Brandi Carlile tickets which made for a magical fourth date, and pretty much sealed the deal on the love story to come. Meeting local friends that fall and early winter was special, and garnered support for the relationship right away. These Midwest-to-Portland transplants were two peas in a pod.

Dates at bars and restaurants morphed into home cooking and cozy nights in. Deep conversations about life, shared values, personal growth, and gratitude became the foundation from which their love would grow. Despite the challenges of 2020, Megan and Ty were determined to introduce each other to family and drove 26-hours back to the Midwest to start introductions. After all that they knew they were ready for the next big step in their relationship: a 12-month home renovation! Fair to say Ty and Megan both learned A LOT during that process, about basement renovation, and about how to navigate highs and lows together. In July 2021, with the renovation nearly complete, Megan officially moved in.

In March 2022 Simcoe (the puppy) joined the family! Yet another opportunity to learn and grow together, becoming dog parents (and watching each other become dog parents) has been a great joy for both Megan and Ty. During Simcoe’s first and supposedly “spontaneous” trip to the Oregon coast, Ty couldn’t think of a better place to make a lasting memory. On the shores of the Pacific with a custom-made brunch representing different experiences shared in the relationship, Ty proposed! Tide pools, sea creatures, and the ocean all around made the proposal extra special. Megan and Ty are both more than thrilled to get married and throw one hell of a party. And they are excited to share and celebrate their love with the people that mean the most to them. Looking forward to September 2023 and beyond, the future's looking bright.
