Megan and Sam met on the popular dating app Bumble the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2017. Sam swiped right first and Megan shortly followed. The two talked that week, exchanged phone numbers and learned that they were college football rivarlies. Sam was a Minnesota Gophers fan and Megan a Wisconsin Badgers. The two had fun harrasing eachother about their loyalties during the annual Badger Gopher game the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Sam was in Minneapolis that year and tailgated for the game as Megan watched from her parents couch in Janesville.

The first date. Megan drove back from Janesville on the Sunday after Thanksgiving with her childhood friend Tommy Stith and his dogs Doug and Seth. After a 5 hour drive Megan quick freshened up and met Sam at Station 280, where they always have 2 for 1 drinks. Sam and Megan talked for a few hours and then parted ways. Both had different ideas of how the first date went.

- Megan felt it went well but was not sure it would go anywhere.

- Sam left feeling great!

This Satruday started off like any normal Satruday. Sam and Megan got up, made coffee and breakfast and got dressed to go walk around the Lake of the Isles. Sam was rushing Megan a bit more than normal, but she did not think anything of it. She made her smoothie, threw some clothes on and got into the car. Megan reminded Sam to bring his gloves because it was cold out. Sam changed his sweatshirt three times and Megan made fun of him for it but did not think anything of it. Sam got down to the car and realized his gloves were in the house so he ran back up - (grabbing the ring which was in his gloves inside his ski bag and shoved it in his sweatshirt pouch, the same sweatshirt he wore on their first date). While driving Sam untied one of his shoes, Sam liked to joke on previous walks that he was getting ready to propose when he bent down to tie his shoes. Sam parked in the same spot that they always did at the Isles. While crossing the street Megan noticed that Sam's shoe was untied and she yelled at him about it. Sam handed Megan his coffee cup and gloves and she noticed he was shaking a little bit. Megan jokingly said “omg are you proposing right now”, which Sam responded, "no". Megan said "maybe I need to pat you down to check for the ring!" Sam and Megan walked a few more steps, Sam was behind Megan and said, but actually... The rest of that sentence was a blur for both of them. Megan obviously said yes and was amazed by the beautiful ring. Sam urged her to “PUT IT ON!" After that Megan called her parents and couldn't stop looking at the ring, her hand was very frozen after the 2.5 mile walk.
