Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Laughter, the sound of copper mugs clanging together, the smell of horses hanging in the air, mead, a cacophony of medieval instruments, and the tall grey peaks of castle watchtowers lining the backdrop. Like most great love stories this one begins at the Charlotte Renaissance Fair. Megan and Matt, two strangers introduced through a mutual friend, spent the day together celebrating the past, ironically that day would also shape their future together.

After hitting it off they spent their first proper date together at Dave and Busters. Determined to prove he’s a capable provider, Matt did what any normal person would and spent hours earning tickets to win Megan the largest stuffed animal in the arcade. At the end of the night, they shared a kiss while struggling to hold an oversized plush dog and the rest is history.

Megan and Matt both have many things they love in life. Fondue, anime, sleeping in, canceling plans, but there is nothing in the world the two love more than Theodore (aka the best boy in the whole world). The legends say that Matt wasn’t much of a dog person. He would call every dog he came across “dog” instead of calling them by name, but the second they brought home that baby boxer pup his tune changed for the better and the two have become inseparable.

Fast forward a few years as Megan and Matt are driving back from dinner on the lake. They take an unexpected turn and end up at the docks on Lake Wylie. The warm glow of candles lines a path down the docks, moonlight bounces off the slow-moving water as Matt gets down on one knee. Teary-eyed, Megan says the words every man waits his entire life to hear...."Yes, I will marry you". The two celebrate with Bundt cakes and champagne floating on the lake, cherishing the moment and dreaming up the future they’ll share together.

Megan, Matt, and Theo now share a home together next to those very same docks. They’ve built an amazing life together and are excited to take the next step in their journey. Without support from family and close friends, their paths in life could have been different. Thank you so much to everyone who has shared their lives with these two and helped them become the people they are today.

We’re excited to celebrate with everyone who can make it, we’ll also make time to celebrate with those who can’t. Thank you all for the roles you’ve played in our lives, we’ll see you at the wedding!
