We highly recommend walking the Basin (Hermit) Trail and enjoying the beach at Fort Fisher. There are beautiful trees, a 4WD beach, and free parking. This is also close in proximity to the ferry if you want to take that to Southport and Bald Head.

Catch the ferry to Bald Head Island! We absolutely recommend a day trip (or even an overnight stay) to beautiful bald head island. Rent or bring a bike or golf cart! No cars allowed on this island. Grab a map on the island and explore all of it! Grab a bite at Jailhouse Provisions and wander around the marina, check out points of interest like Cape Fear Point, South, East and West Beach

4WD and camping, great shelling and open space. Park and walk area too ($5/hr or $50 day pass - avoid this by checking out the Carolina Beach Pier and enjoy the view from the pier)

Only the best fresh hot donuts we’ve ever had. Expect a long line (it goes by fast usually no more than 10 mins) and is always worth it

Beautiful for sunset (oak toe trail to the water/ river view), lovely any time of day! Bring bug spray just in case. Take flytrap trail to see some of NCs native Venus fly traps. All of the trails are nice to walk and it is dog friendly.

Megan’s favorite spot in CB to grab breakfast, lunch, coffee, matcha, smoothies, açaí bowls- they’ve got a wide selection of GF and vegan options and they are right by the boardwalk.

Views of freeman park, some of our save the date video filmed here, they usually plan fun events, have cornhole.

Urban community made out of- you guessed it- cargo containers. Support local shops, restaurants, micro bars and craft markets. We love the Alcove Beer Garden and all of the shops are great.

Rentals and lessons are available at many places, CB Surf Shop being one of them, Tony Silvagni being another. Spots to surf: beginners anywhere in CB w local lifeguard stands, we like to surf at the Spartanburg Beach Access. More advanced surfers go to CB Fishing Pier or Mason’s Inlet Jetty.
