Tom and Megan met on CatholicMatch in the winter of 2022. Tom honestly never thought to look to the west in Indiana, and luckily, Tom didn't have to...because Megan found him first! After a brief exchange, and a really bad dad joke about dentists made by Tom (thinking there was nothing to lose) Megan shot an equally bad dad joke back...and the rest is history...but we'll give you a little more.

Tom and Megan discovered they had a lot in common from musical tastes, to picky palates, and lot of nerdy tendencies; but the kicker was that even though they grew up 250 miles apart (a good 4 hour drive) in two different states, they found that Tom grew up in the same town where her grandparents lived in Middlefield. Whenever Megan came to visit on holidays or special occassions, the both of them would eat at the same restaurants and visit the same local establishments. Tom would run past her grandparents street during cross country practice and would frequent the ice cream shop next to the red caboose where Megan's grandmother would make the best malted milkshakes.

They both bonded over the shared devastation of losing a parent too early, but were strengthened by the legacy of faith passed down by both of their families.

On Christmas of December 2022, once the weather cleared, Tom and Megan braved the frigid temperatures and treacherous conditions to visit Tom's side of the family for the holidays. They decided to stay at Punderson State Park, and when they arrived, it was like a ghost town. Due to the poor weather, a broken pipe in the restauarant, and freezing temperatures, the manor house was virutally empty. They had the place all to themselves. The best was staying up late, playing card games by the fire, and the staff delivering them cookies and hot chocholate "just because." One night, while sitting side by side in their rocking chairs Tom looked sideways at Megan and knew that a year from then that was the woman he would propose to.

In July, after a year of "going steady" Megan couldn't bear the thought of living apart much longer (Tom's words), and took the bold step of selling her home and moving to Toledo across the street from Tom in August of 2023. They grew even closer and got to travel and enjoy each others company way more often. They started talking about "future" possibilities, and made travel plans, and dove into serving alongside each other in ministry. Megan had no idea what Tom was planning!

Tom, true to his intention sat with the ring in his pocket for 6 months, and on Christmas of 2023, in front of the same fireplace from a year before, took a knee and finally proposed. (Spoiler: she said yes!)

Thats where we are so far, and we look forward to celebrating the new beginning with all of you.
