La Jolla Cove Suites

Special rates are available from September 27 through October 3, 2017. Room rates vary between $159 weekday/ $209 weekend (standard room, no view) and $339 weekday/ $399 weekend (2 bedroom suite with either a terrace or an ocean view) with many options in between. San Diego's hospitality tax is 12.5%.
Parking is $20 per night, but unless you plan to explore Southern California, we recommend using Uber, Lyft or a Taxi to get to the hotel which is in the middle of a pedestrian-friendly village rich with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and boutiques.

Empress Hotel
Stay just 0.4 miles south along the cove and walk over - we've arranged a 16% discount for you under the Hall/Byrne Wedding room block for $209 per night anytime between the dates of September 27th and October 3rd.
You may book up to 3 days before or after the offered days, but must book a minimum of 2 nights and confirm with the hotel by August 27th. San Diego's tourism tax is 12.5%. If you plan to drive, valet parking is available for $28 per night (unlimited access). However, the village is very pedestrian so a car is not necessary once you get to the village unless you plan on exploring. If not renting a car, you may catch a shuttle or cab at the airport, or use Lyft or Uber on your smartphone.
Cars to/from the airport
Taxi: The most expensive option, besides renting a car, but good for those who don't use smart phones. When you land at the San Diego Airport, follow the signs to the taxi pick-up area and they will whisk you away.
Uber: Download the Uber app - https://www.uber.com/invite/5johy - on your smartphone and request a car once you have your luggage. Then head to the "car share pickup" area following the signs at the airport (it's in the temporary parking lot). Uber allows you to pay through the app with your credit card, but does not allow you to tip within the app, so be sure to have a little cash on hand.
Lyft: Download the Lyft app on your smartphone - https://lyft.com/ici/BILL121702 - and request a car once you have your luggage. Then head to the "car share pickup" area following the signs at the airport (it's in the temporary parking lot). You can pay & tip on your credit card all through the app.
Wondering if you need a car? Look at it this way... would you rent a car for a trip to Manhattan, if you weren't going any further than Hoboken, Brooklyn or the upper (upper) East Side? There are lots of things a short distance away (https://www.theknot.com/us/megan-hall-and-bill-byr...) and you may save money by just using Uber/Lyft or a cab. This fare estimator (https://www.uber.com/fare-estimate/) will give you a good idea of what your ride will cost, but prices do change if it's a "peak time".

Want to accumulate Marriott points? Megs worked for a Marriott in college and fully backs that decision. The better (and cheaper!) one nearby is 3.5 miles north-east from the wedding venue and we've arranged a discount for you here too. The nightly rate is $169 offered anytime between the dates of September 27th through October 2nd. Uber, Lyft and various taxi companies are readily available if you choose not to bring or rent a vehicle. The hotel concierge offers a limo/town car service as well.
