Like many millennial couples, Meg and Matt met on Match.com. Matt was the first to send a message...it said something like "I like your preppy style." For those of you who know Meg, that one compliment really peaked her interest. However, like most millennial girls, she looked at Matt's pictures a few times try to decide if this guy was cute enough to respond back.
Eventually, she did. They started messaging in late June. Matt told her that he was going on a boys trip to Europe for two weeks and that he would message her when he returned. Well, Meg decided that was it and she would never hear from him again. It was nice while it lasted. Low and behold upon Matt's return from his trip he messaged her. They finally set up a first date for July 28th, 2017, at the Stirling Tavern in Morristown.
That first date was....not great. Matt might have said 10 words total and kept looking out the big window on to South Street. In true Meg form, she called him out on it asking "Do you know someone out there?!" Surprisingly, even after that Matt wanted a second date. That date went much better. They walked around the Frelinghuysen Arboretum and really got to know each other. However, Meg would only allow 2 hour dates. At the end of this date, Matt asked if she wanted to get a lemonade. Matt tipped the girl at the counter all the change he got back from the cash he gave her. At that moment, Meg was really impressed and knew that she had a good one.
Fast forward 6 years later and Matt finally proposed on December 23, 2023, at that same arboretum. Meg said "yes"...shocking and after we went back to Stirling Tavern for a celebratory drink. This time, Matt had much more to say.
