Driving Directions from Anchorage to Girdwood (Approx. 45-60min, 40 miles)

1. Merge onto Seward Highway (AK-1) South:

* Continue heading south on the Seward Highway. This scenic drive follows the coastline and offers stunning views of mountains, water, and wildlife.

* The highway is well-maintained, but always watch for wildlife, especially Mountain Goats!

2. Continue on Seward Highway for 35–40 miles:

* After passing through the communities of Indian and Bird, you'll enter the Girdwood area.

* Pass Girdwood Gas Station (Last of available for 98 miles)

3. Turn into the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center:

* The AWCC is located about 1 mile south of Girdwood. You’ll see clear signage on the right side of the highway.

* The exact address is Mile 79 Seward Highway.

* Parking: There is ample parking at the AWCC, and it's free for guests visiting the center for weddings or other events.

Upon Arrival: Once at the AWCC, follow event signs for parking and private entrance details. 


The weather in Girdwood can be variable, so be sure to check the forecast and dress accordingly. It can be rainy or windy, and temperatures can vary greatly depending on the type of season. Please see dress code FAQ for additional info regarding clothing info!

* Cell Service:
 Cell service is generally good along the Seward Highway, but be aware that service can sometimes be spotty in more remote areas.

* Drive Safely: 
In summer months, there is always lots of traffic. Always check road conditions in advance, and drive cautiously.

~Respect the animals. Do not taunt or harass them.


~AWCC is a NON-Smoking and NON-Vaping facility.
