Our Story

How We Met

Picture of How We Met

Our love story starts at UW–Superior, the summer before Megan’s extra semester and Carter’s senior year. Megan slides into Carter’s Snapchat DMs, and what begins as a casual message quickly turns into texting and snapping all summer long.

We don’t actually meet in person until the fall, once we’re both back on campus. We plan to watch a movie at Megan’s apartment, but end up talking for hours instead; just the two of us, completely caught up in conversation.

A few days later, Carter takes Megan on our first date to Chipotle (still one of our favorite spots). Afterward, we stop at TJ Maxx to pick up swim trunks for one of Carter’s classes. After that, we pretty much never stopped spending time together.

How Did the Proposal Happen?

Megan had always dreamed of getting engaged at her family reunion in Okoboji, Iowa, just like her parents did. Carter loved the idea and planned to pop the question that same week.

He originally planned to propose at Arnold’s Park on Spirit Lake, but thanks to a very rainy summer, all the docks were closed. With some quick thinking, he decided to head back resort where Megan’s family always stays and to propose on the dock. The photographer took the long way around the lake and nearly missed the whole thing!

Megan may have had a feeling it was coming, but Carter still managed to make it a meaningful and unforgettable moment.

Life Together

Picture of Life Together

We’re the couple who meal preps on Sundays and somehow turns everything into a competition. These days, you can find us in West St. Paul, usually chasing after Kobe, our golden retriever. We love spending weekends together; staying active, watching sports, and hanging out with friends and family.

The Future

We’re so excited for everything still ahead. In the next few years, we hope to buy our first home, mainly so Kobe can finally have the yard he deserves. Someday, we dream of having a place on the lake, another pup, and starting a family of our own.

We can already picture a home filled with plants, friends, and family. We can’t wait to keep building our life together, one moment at a time.
