Our Wedding

Andrew and Megan met at Cal Poly University in 2017 through their student housing. There was one empty spot in the house Megan and her friends were living in, and Andrew just happened to be the one to fill it! Throughout the school year, Megan and Andrew bonded over study sessions, chicken nugget runs, sailing parties, DIY iPhone repairs, and hours spent talking in front of the world map poster on the wall of the kitchen. When the school year ended, Megan invited Andrew on her family’s sail trip :). That summer, they hung out in the bay area, sailing in the SF Bay, eating burritos in The Mission, and losing a phone on the USS Hornet (Megan). In the fall, Andrew moved to Portland, OR for work and Megan finished her senior year. Weekend trips between Portland and San Luis Obispo ensued! Finally, after graduation, Megan moved to Portland too and the couple has been taking advantage of PNW hiking, camping, sailing, and skiing ever since. In May 2024, Andrew planned a surprise trip to Maine where he proposed on top of a mountain in Acadia National Park. Today, they live in Seattle, WA and are looking forward to sharing some of their favorite parts of the city and their relationship with you all!

Getting Around

We recommend flying into the SeaTac airport and either renting a car or catching an uber/lyft to your hotel. The light rail is also an option from the airport to downtown Seattle. The Welcome Party is in Ballard and the MV Skansonia is in Fremont. Both are roughly a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Seattle. You can uber/lyft easily, so a rental car is not necessary unless you want one for exploring around Seattle.

Accommodations

There are many hotels in downtown Seattle. The Edgewater is an iconic option with views of the Puget Sound and a cozy lobby. Hotel Crocodile or Hyatt House Seattle/Downtown are also good options. When looking for a hotel, we recommend staying within a couple blocks of Pike Place or anywhere north of it. Avoid staying on 3rd Avenue. There are also many great airbnb/vrbo options in the Queen Anne, Ballard, or Fremont neighborhoods.

Weather

October marks the end of beautiful Seattle summers. Be prepared for it to be sunny and warm or cool and wet. Average temps are in the 50s and 60s.

Travel

This is how boats travel between the Puget Sound and the lakes surrounding Seattle. Spend an hour or so watching the boats load into the locks and travel up or down! There is also a Salmon Ladder exhibit where you can see the salmon swim into the lakes from the sound. There is a nice park at the locks. Good activity if you like boats, engineering, or fish :)

Ballard Locks

One of our favorite day trips! The ferry trip alone is a fun experience and the town of Windsor on Bainbridge Island has many cute shops and restaurants. Megan and Andrew have deemed Bruciato the best pizza in Seattle (high praise from pizza connoisseurs)! Blackbird Bakery is another great spot to grab a bite. Their toast made on homemade bread is a must have! Both of these are walkable from the ferry. If you bring a car on the ferry, you can visit parks, wineries, or beaches around the island. Keep in mind the ferry wait times can be long, especially on weekends. This would be a great thing to do on Friday or Sunday!

Ferry to Bainbridge Island

Seattle has many beautiful parks! Check out Discovery Park for a walk or run through the forest and views of the Sound. Gasworks Park has the remnants of old industrial equipment next to Lake Union. Washington Park Arboretum has many beautiful gardens to wander through.

'Skål' means 'cheers!' in several Scandinavian languages. This is a Viking themed beer and mead hall that we love to go to when we are in the neighborhood. We recommend the mead flight and a pretzel! This would be a great place to stop by before or after the Welcome Party :)

Seattle Aquarium

This is a classic Seattle activity. There are people throwing fish, countless shops, and many places to grab a bite to eat.

Pike Place Market

Tall pointy thing. Check it out from the ground, or take the elevator up for views of Seattle, the Puget Sound, and (if you're lucky) Mt. Rainier! If you want to catch sunset from the top, we recommend booking tickets a couple days in advance.

Space Needle

We love escape rooms and have done many around the city.
