WILL THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION BE INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?
The Ceremony is planned to be outdoors (weather permitting). It will be located on a dockside facing the Rockford River. The reception will be held indoors with access to the dockside throughout the evening.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
Yes! We ask our guests to come in Formal Attire. We recommend a suit and tie & cocktail dresses. It's a wedding- dress to impress! No jeans or white/ red dresses please! It will be June, so plan accordingly for summer weather.
HOW DOES SEATING WORK?
The ceremony will be open seating so sit wherever you please. For the reception, we will be carefully arranging tables so our guests are sat with those they know
ARE KIDS WELCOME?
Although we love your children, we have decided to keep our wedding an adults only affair. We hope you understand our decision to make our wedding child free and are looking forward to this opportunity to let your hair down and party with us!
WHAT DO I DO IF I'M LATE FOR THE CEREMONY?
The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30pm, we recommend guests arrive between 4:00-4:15pm so there is time to mingle and find a seat. If you happen to be late, our coordinator will let you know if they are still allowing guests in or if you will need to wait until the ceremony is over. If that happens, you will still be able to attend the reception so hang tight and we will see you at the reception! Thank you for understanding!
CAN I BRING A PLUS ONE?
Due to limited capacity, we are unable to accommodate plus ones unless it is specifically indicated on your envelope. For example, your envelope would list "(your name) & Guest". For families, it will list "(your name) & Family" or "The (your last name) Family". When you go to RSVP, you will be able to see the exact number of people you can RSVP for.
IS THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
Yes! Onsite guest parking will be available and the venue has ramps to accommodate wheelchairs.
IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE VENUE?
Yes, there is complimentary guest parking outside of the venue and an additional parking lot across the street owned by the venue. Signs will be posted at the entrance of the venue and throughout the venue space to direct our guests on where to go.
SINCE THERE WILL BE ALCOHOL, WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT DRIVING?
We DO NOT want anyone drinking and driving, Prairie Street staff agrees. As such, they allow guests to leave their vehicles overnight at the venue and pick them up the next morning. We recommend using rideshare apps (Lyft, Uber) for transportation if you plan on drinking!
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY HOTEL ROOM?
As soon as possible! The Embassy Suites (our recommended hotel) is located only a half mile from the venue. However, it is the only hotel located directly in downtown Rockford and has additional events booked for that weekend, the longer you wait to book, the less capacity they will have and more expensive the rooms will be. We have also included 2 additional hotel accommodations located only 10 minutes from the venue that you can book as well.
I'M STAYING OVERNIGHT AT A HOTEL- WHAT DO I DO WITH MY STUFF?
The Embassy Suites (our recommended hotel) allows for check-in at 4:00pm. However, early check in may be requested if they have the room available or they will hold your luggage until you are permitted to check in.
