Our Wedding

Dearest&nbsp;Gentle&nbsp;Reader, Pray,&nbsp;allow&nbsp;me&nbsp;to&nbsp;recount&nbsp;a&nbsp;tale&nbsp;most&nbsp;unconventional&nbsp;—&nbsp;for&nbsp;this&nbsp;love&nbsp;story&nbsp;did&nbsp;not&nbsp;begin&nbsp;with&nbsp;a&nbsp;waltz&nbsp;beneath&nbsp;crystal&nbsp;chandeliers&nbsp;nor&nbsp;with&nbsp;a&nbsp;courtly&nbsp;introduction&nbsp;arranged&nbsp;by&nbsp;meddling&nbsp;mamas.&nbsp;No,&nbsp;indeed.&nbsp;It&nbsp;began&nbsp;on&nbsp;an&nbsp;ordinary&nbsp;September&nbsp;day…&nbsp;at&nbsp;a&nbsp;courier&nbsp;station&nbsp;of&nbsp;all&nbsp;places. Into&nbsp;this&nbsp;unsuspecting&nbsp;arena&nbsp;arrived&nbsp;one&nbsp;Miss&nbsp;Meg&nbsp;—&nbsp;a&nbsp;new&nbsp;courier.&nbsp;And&nbsp;what,&nbsp;you&nbsp;may&nbsp;ask,&nbsp;did&nbsp;our&nbsp;heroine&nbsp;do&nbsp;upon&nbsp;meeting&nbsp;her?&nbsp;Offer&nbsp;sweetness?&nbsp;Extend&nbsp;grace?&nbsp;Certainly&nbsp;not.&nbsp;Instead,&nbsp;she&nbsp;launched&nbsp;an&nbsp;interrogation&nbsp;disguised&nbsp;as&nbsp;a&nbsp;game&nbsp;of&nbsp;twenty&nbsp;questions.&nbsp;One&nbsp;must,&nbsp;after&nbsp;all,&nbsp;determine&nbsp;the&nbsp;character&nbsp;of&nbsp;a&nbsp;newcomer. Yet&nbsp;somewhere&nbsp;between&nbsp;inquiry&nbsp;and&nbsp;answer,&nbsp;she&nbsp;noticed&nbsp;them&nbsp;—&nbsp;those&nbsp;piercing&nbsp;blue&nbsp;eyes,&nbsp;bright&nbsp;enough&nbsp;to&nbsp;halt&nbsp;even&nbsp;the&nbsp;most&nbsp;diligent&nbsp;worker&nbsp;mid-route.&nbsp;In&nbsp;that&nbsp;fleeting&nbsp;moment,&nbsp;though&nbsp;neither&nbsp;dared&nbsp;say&nbsp;it&nbsp;aloud,&nbsp;they&nbsp;both&nbsp;sensed&nbsp;it:&nbsp;their&nbsp;lives&nbsp;were&nbsp;about&nbsp;to&nbsp;intertwine.&nbsp;The&nbsp;only&nbsp;mystery&nbsp;remaining&nbsp;was&nbsp;how. And&nbsp;so&nbsp;they&nbsp;did&nbsp;what&nbsp;many&nbsp;great&nbsp;loves&nbsp;do&nbsp;before&nbsp;revealing&nbsp;themselves&nbsp;—&nbsp;they&nbsp;became&nbsp;the&nbsp;best&nbsp;of&nbsp;friends.&nbsp;Wednesdays&nbsp;were&nbsp;claimed&nbsp;by&nbsp;Bingo.&nbsp;Evenings&nbsp;were&nbsp;surrendered&nbsp;to&nbsp;late-night&nbsp;calls,&nbsp;ensuring&nbsp;safe&nbsp;arrivals&nbsp;home.&nbsp;Six&nbsp;months&nbsp;of&nbsp;laughter,&nbsp;loyalty,&nbsp;and&nbsp;something&nbsp;simmering&nbsp;just&nbsp;beneath&nbsp;the&nbsp;surface. Until&nbsp;April&nbsp;30th,&nbsp;2022. Ah,&nbsp;yes.&nbsp;The&nbsp;day&nbsp;Miss&nbsp;Meg&nbsp;cast&nbsp;aside&nbsp;pretense&nbsp;and&nbsp;asked&nbsp;the&nbsp;most&nbsp;dangerous&nbsp;question&nbsp;of&nbsp;all:&nbsp;Will&nbsp;you&nbsp;be&nbsp;mine?&nbsp;And&nbsp;of&nbsp;course&nbsp;—&nbsp;how&nbsp;could&nbsp;the&nbsp;answer&nbsp;be&nbsp;anything&nbsp;but&nbsp;yes? From&nbsp;that&nbsp;day&nbsp;forward,&nbsp;their&nbsp;lives&nbsp;shifted&nbsp;from&nbsp;parallel&nbsp;paths&nbsp;to&nbsp;one&nbsp;shared&nbsp;road.&nbsp;They&nbsp;moved&nbsp;in&nbsp;together.&nbsp;They&nbsp;grew.&nbsp;They&nbsp;discovered&nbsp;the&nbsp;truth&nbsp;behind&nbsp;that&nbsp;most&nbsp;curious&nbsp;saying:&nbsp;When&nbsp;you&nbsp;know,&nbsp;you&nbsp;know&nbsp;—&nbsp;and&nbsp;when&nbsp;you&nbsp;don’t,&nbsp;you&nbsp;most&nbsp;certainly&nbsp;don’t.&nbsp;What&nbsp;they&nbsp;found&nbsp;was&nbsp;not&nbsp;merely&nbsp;romance,&nbsp;but&nbsp;the&nbsp;rarest&nbsp;treasure&nbsp;of&nbsp;all&nbsp;—&nbsp;a&nbsp;lover&nbsp;who&nbsp;is&nbsp;also&nbsp;a&nbsp;steadfast&nbsp;best&nbsp;friend. It&nbsp;has&nbsp;been&nbsp;wild.&nbsp;It&nbsp;has&nbsp;been&nbsp;wondrous.&nbsp;And&nbsp;neither&nbsp;would&nbsp;choose&nbsp;another&nbsp;companion&nbsp;for&nbsp;this&nbsp;grand&nbsp;adventure&nbsp;called&nbsp;life. Who&nbsp;would&nbsp;have&nbsp;thought&nbsp;that&nbsp;destiny&nbsp;would&nbsp;be&nbsp;waiting&nbsp;between&nbsp;parcels&nbsp;and&nbsp;delivery&nbsp;routes?&nbsp;That&nbsp;“The&nbsp;One”&nbsp;might&nbsp;be&nbsp;discovered&nbsp;not&nbsp;at&nbsp;a&nbsp;ball,&nbsp;but&nbsp;at&nbsp;work?&nbsp;They&nbsp;never&nbsp;saw&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;coming&nbsp;—&nbsp;and&nbsp;now&nbsp;they&nbsp;shall&nbsp;never&nbsp;be&nbsp;the&nbsp;same. There&nbsp;has,&nbsp;it&nbsp;seems,&nbsp;been&nbsp;an&nbsp;invisible&nbsp;string&nbsp;tying&nbsp;them&nbsp;together&nbsp;all&nbsp;along. Never&nbsp;would&nbsp;they&nbsp;change&nbsp;the&nbsp;way&nbsp;they&nbsp;found&nbsp;one&nbsp;another.&nbsp;And&nbsp;neither&nbsp;can&nbsp;wait&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;day&nbsp;they&nbsp;marry&nbsp;their&nbsp;dearest&nbsp;friend. For&nbsp;as&nbsp;the&nbsp;heavens&nbsp;once&nbsp;raged&nbsp;with&nbsp;lightning&nbsp;and&nbsp;sleepless&nbsp;onyx&nbsp;nights,&nbsp;so&nbsp;too&nbsp;did&nbsp;they&nbsp;dance&nbsp;through&nbsp;uncertainty&nbsp;—&nbsp;until&nbsp;at&nbsp;last,&nbsp;the&nbsp;sky&nbsp;turned&nbsp;opalite. Oh,&nbsp;my&nbsp;Lord…&nbsp;never&nbsp;had&nbsp;they&nbsp;met&nbsp;anyone&nbsp;like&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;before. You&nbsp;had&nbsp;to&nbsp;make&nbsp;your&nbsp;own&nbsp;sunshine&nbsp;— And&nbsp;now,&nbsp;the&nbsp;sky&nbsp;is&nbsp;opalite. Yours&nbsp;in&nbsp;scandal&nbsp;and&nbsp;sincerity, Lady&nbsp;Whistledown&nbsp;❤️

Some friendships are built on constant conversation, but ours has always been built on something deeper — the kind of connection that never fades, no matter how much time passes. We’ve known each other since middle school and graduated together in 2013, and throughout every stage of life, she has remained one of the sweetest, most genuine people I know.

She’s silly, endlessly giving, and the kind of friend who makes everyone around her feel loved and supported. She may not even realize it, but she also played a huge role in inspiring my own taekwondo journey. I remember watching her train when we were younger and thinking how amazing it was, and years later, that memory helped motivate me to begin my own path toward earning my black belt.

As two fellow Leos with birthdays close together, we’ve always just clicked effortlessly. Even when life gets busy and we don’t talk all the time, our friendship has always been able to pick right back up where it left off — like no time has passed at all. I’m beyond grateful to still have her in my life after all these years, and even more honored to have her standing beside me as one of my bridesmaids on such a special day.

So, instead of a registry and gifts, and the table that just takes up space, we've decided to create a place for donations to our Honeymoon fund. Money is tight for everyone, that much is known, but we would rather do this so we can enjoy an actual honeymoon together this time around (referring to past mistakes on both sides...) So please consider this alternative to traditional wedding gifts, as we are already established "adults" and do not need such frivolous things; we have each other and want to make the most of our honeymoon &#128522; &#10084;&#65039;
