Things to Do

Jayce happened to be working at Menards on a Thursday evening in October, when Megan and her friends finished up a marching band rehearsal and grabbed some Culver's to enjoy. Since Covid had shut down indoor eating, the Menard's parking lot was the next best option. Jayce came over with his motorcycle to say hi since he knew one of Megan's friends, and he offered the group motorcycle rides. A noise complaint was filed so the police ended up coming and breaking up the fun, but no tickets came of it. Megan ended up getting Jayce's contact to "apologize" for the complaint, and they started talking. Eventually, Megan decided that even though Jayce would soon be off to Florida for a full year, and she would be headed off to Gustavus for four, that this friendship had more potential, so she asked Jayce out on February 1st, 2021.

How We Met

Megan and Jayce went to Senior Prom together, with Megan asking Jayce using a line from one of their favorite shows (The Office). They were together for 7 months before Megan moved in to Gustavus September 2021, and then only had 2 more months dating within an hour of each other before Jayce headed off to MMI in Orlando, Florida in November 2021. Jayce flew home in December 2021 for Christmas, February 2022 for his sister's wedding, and August 2022 for Megan's Birthday. Megan visited Jayce in May 2022 with his Mom, sister, and their friends. Jayce was finally home for good in October of 2022, and he lived in Shakopee with his good friend Travis. Those 45-minutes was nothing compared to the 1500 miles between Minnesota and Florida. That summer, Megan and Jayce started going to the North Shore together for a camping trip in 2023, and continued the tradition for 2024 and 2025. The summer of 2024, Jayce moved to Eagan to live with his cousin Phillip, increasing the distance to an hour and 20 minutes apart. The longer Megan and Jayce have been together, the closer they have become, and the more excited they are to get married to each other.

The In-Between

Jayce had to keep his cool as Megan continuously guessed each and every move he made, but in denying her guesses and distracting her with other stories, he made sure she wasn't sure if the proposal was truly coming or not. Jayce bought the perfect ring and kept it in Megan's Great Grandmother's ring box. He planned a walk in Lebanon Park in Eagan, and had his cousins and friends set up a dock with lights and strings of pictures of Megan and Jayce throughout their relationship. Jayce's cousins and friends had to make sure the dock was empty of fishermen and people walking along the trail, so they barely made it out in time! Megan had gotten a bit suspicious seeing the lights off in the distance, and from the strange glances and waves she was getting from the passersby on the trail (they had been warned to stay off the dock by Jayce's cousins and friends). Once they got to the dock, Jayce got down on one knee to ask Megan to marry him, forgetting his speech in the excitement. Megan and Jayce headed back to Jayce's place (shared with his friends and cousin) where everyone was waiting with confetti poppers, music, and champagne to celebrate the big day!

Allison and Megan met their Sophomore year of College. They were both in the course "Elementary Science Educators", and were in the same experiment group. They were known by the rest of the class as constant jokers who would be the only two laughing and crying over a joke that elicited a chuckle at most from the others in the course. The two became even closer through their shared love of History and deep conversations about the workings of the world. Allison and Megan were in Big Partner Little Partner (BPLP) together in college as well, and often were the last ones cleaning up events together, always ensuring that the job was done to completion :) Allison is best known for her contagious laughter, and the care she gives to each person in her life. She knows how to make time for everyone to fit into her busy life, and makes sure to write notes of appreciation whenever she has spare time.

Louis is Jayce's cousin, but they consider each other brothers. Jayce spent numerus summers with his uncle Brian and aunt Michelle. Over the years, they have shared countless stories and memories, especially of the fun summers they spent growing up together. Louis always looked out for Jayce like an older brother, offering the best advice he could and doing his best to keep Jayce out of trouble.

While Jayce may not have always enjoyed being teased like a younger brother, he knows that Louis is the closest thing to a brother he will ever have. Louis and Jayce also spent a great deal of time with Derek and Phil, doing just about everything together as kids. One of Jayce’s favorite things about Louis is his compassion and genuine care for others, especially in his roles as a husband and father. Jayce has watched Louis continue to grow into a better person each time they see one another.

Louis Wagner

Addy and Megan met on the first day of College, next-door neighbors who bonded over their shared involvement in band right away. The two were instant friends who became inseparable, attending and later running the Swing Dance club, and becoming roommates for the last two years of college. Addy and Megan have shared tears of laughter and sadness together, and have been constant supports for each other through the last five years. Addy has so much love and care for each and every person, you will hardly find her alone, whether she has made a new friend or run into her many others. She is one of the best listeners you will ever meet with the brightest smile you'll get the chance to see. If you're lucky, you might see Megan and Addy twirling across the dance floor with goofy grins plastered to their faces, laughter growing with each twist and dip.

Philipp and Jayce also consider each other brothers. A clear pattern emerges from their story—Jayce, Phil, and Louis were especially close throughout their childhood. Phil and Jayce grew even closer after Jayce graduated from college. When Jayce moved to Shakopee and Phil was living nearby, he began visiting occasionally, then more frequently, until Jayce was spending time at Phil’s home nearly every day.

Eventually, Jayce decided to move in with Phil, and the two spent most of their days together. Each day, Jayce would return home and ask Phil what their plans were, and Phil was always eager to spend time together regardless of the occasion. Later, Jayce and Megan chose to move to Eagan, just two minutes from Phil’s home, so they could continue seeing each other often. Today, Phil, Jayce, and Megan spend a great deal of time together, regularly making time for dinners, outings, or simply watching their favorite television shows.

Mya and Megan met through mutual friends in their first year of college. They both decided in the spring of their sophomore year that they wanted to go to the gym with a friend. They continued growing closer after they chose to both major in art, and as they learned more about each other in those early morning gym sessions. Mya always pushes Megan to do her best, and the two are usually exchanging ideas on each others art pieces or arguing over who would win in a fight. Anyone who knows Mya would tell you she's the hardest worker you will ever meet, and no matter how many things she has on her plate she will make sure to put out her best work at all times. This is especially obvious in her artwork, which particularly showcases her attention to detail, bringing to life even the smallest moments in her paintings and sketches. Mya has been a constant support who pours her heart and soul into each friendship she has, ensuring that her friends know she appreciates them through the notes she writes and the gifts she gives.

Derek and Jayce also consider each other brothers. Jayce always cherished the time he spent with Derek growing up. Because Derek is the same age as Jayce’s older sister, he was often seen as the older brother figure. In fact, Jayce chose to attend college in Florida rather than Arizona so he could spend that year closer to Derek.

No matter how much time passes or the distance between them—nearly 1,700 miles—Jayce and Derek are never awkward together, and every time they reunite, it feels as though no time has passed at all. Derek took great joy in showing Jayce how fun Florida could be, and while Jayce was living there, the two spent time together almost daily. They went to new movies, rode attractions at Universal, and made the most of every moment. Derek has an unmatched ability to enjoy life wherever and whenever he is, and that is Jayce’s favorite thing about him.

Anna and Megan are your classic example of friends for life. Anna was born on August 21, and really felt something was missing that first day of her life, and then when Megan was born on August 22, she knew what that missing piece was ;). Anna and Megan both attended St. Anastasia Catholic School until 6th grade, when they both transitioned to the Hutchinson Public Schools together. Even though they didn't always talk everyday, or hang out as much as they would have liked to, whenever the two got together it felt as if no time had passed. You can find them laughing to tears at a joke the other said, usually some inside joke or phrase that only they understand. Anna has the best laugh you'll ever get the chance to hear, and can get along with everyone she meets. You'll never meet anyone who is more compassionate and thoughtful.

Jayce and Charlie met at Jayce’s current workplace shortly after Jayce moved back to Minnesota, eager to make new friends. As they spent more time talking at work, their connection grew quickly—from barely knowing each other to spending time together every day, often while definitely not getting distracted on the job.

Outside of work, Jayce and Charlie began inviting each other over for dinners, going out for drinks, and taking camping trips and motorcycle rides, along with everything in between. They quickly realized how much they had in common and how naturally their friendship had grown into something truly special. Jayce and Charlie always get along, no matter the time or place. Charlie is a devoted husband to his wife, Kendra, and yet he always makes time to be with Jayce whenever he can—a testament to the depth and loyalty of their friendship.

Amber and Megan met in Lanesboro on a group camping trip for "the boys." The two of them clicked right away, laughing at each others jokes and sharing stories about the similarities of Jayce to his Wagner cousins. The two attended many Wagner family events together, and enjoyed the company of another woman instead of just the boys. Amber ended up asking Megan to be a Bridesmaid in her own wedding, and the two continue to spend lots of time together throughout all the holidays. Amber always knows how to have a good time, whether hosting an amazing get together or bringing the life to the function, you know the party isn't starting until she's there. Amber is the most wonderful mother to her daughter Loretta, and she brightens every room she walks in. You'd never feel out of place with Amber around to bring a smile to your face or share a look over something absurd the Wagner brothers are discussing.

Travis has been Jayce’s best friend since birth. They met before either of them could even speak English and have never grown apart. Over the years, Travis and Jayce spent as much time together as possible. Jayce’s favorite memories are of nights spent playing games and laughing so hard it hurt.

Travis is one of the most creative people Jayce knows, always following his instincts and putting his full energy into whatever he sets his mind to. Jayce always looks forward to hearing from Travis and learning about the new adventures he’s embarked on. What Jayce values most about Travis is his compassion for others and his unwavering determination to give his all in everything he does.

One day, while Jayce was attending school in Florida, Travis decided to visit him. During that visit, Travis asked Jayce if he wanted to move in with him in Shakopee. Jayce thought for a very brief moment—and then decided to move in with him.

Travis has been, and always will be, one of Jayce’s closest friends—a bond that will never change.
