What may seem like a typical “Boy meets Girl story” has its areas of gray like anything else. Little did they know, months before they met, a best friend and a sister were auctioning them off in the privacy of a busy salon. Soon after, Boy started hearing, “I know the girl you’re going to marry,” rhetoric. This huge statement was then met with an unexpected Snapchat request. They “snapped” and “chatted” back and forth for a week or two but the best friend, at his next hair appointment, and the sister came up with a plan to force their hand into meeting each other. On paper, the plan looked pretty good! They, along with a group of friends, would all meet at a brewery for a trivia night where the trivia would naturally lead to small talk and the drinks would loosen up any nerves. In implementation, the plan started to crack. Boy misjudged the walking distance and was more than 10 minutes late, Girl is horrible at trivia, and then, at the picnic-like table, everyone seemed to have assigned seats like in middle school. When Boy got there, the best friend was sitting next to Girl bragging about his 90s pop-culture trivia knowledge. He led the introductions, made fun of Boy for his sweater, and had people make room for Boy to sit down. Except, oblivious to the true purpose of the evening, the best friend kept his seat next to Girl to defend his stance on how his memorization of movie quotes pay-off in these exact moments. Eventually, with the help of his now wife, the best friend was told to grab a round of beers; as he left the table, Boy sat next to Girl. They fell deeply in love which is why you are reading this. FIN.
