Dad was telling us over Thanksgiving about the conversation he had with an old friend of his, Ed, sharing the news of our engagement. This is how it went, according to my dad...
Dad: Ed, you know what these two met back in kindergarten. They've known each other for many, many years. I remember Kevin wrote Megan a love letter in 7th grade (True story! There were several letters exchanged)... but nothing happened.
Ed: Ohh! Kevin? I remember you told me about him awhile ago! He's still in the picture!
Dad: Even when they were in high school, they remained friends. They went their separate ways -- Megan went to UGA and Kevin went to another college in Georgia (*University of North Georgia), but they were still friends! But no commitment...After college, Megan decided to move to Seattle and run professionally for Brooks Running. Ed, they were still friends and kept in touch!
Eventually, they both moved back home to Atlanta and started chatting it up again. Then, one night, Megan calls me and says, "Dad, me and Kevin are IT! This is it."
Me: Did I say that?!
Dad: Yes, you did!! Now, we're here. You guys are engaged and getting married!!
Being the sentimental person that I am, I still have those letters Kev wrote me in middle school.
Don't ask us why but this was from a kindergarten field trip to a cotton field. As adults looking back at this memory, we have lots of questions.
Yearbook photo(s) from St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Hapeville, GA, where we attended school together from kindergarten to 8th grade. The first ones are from kindergarten and the second one is 3rd grade (Udare is next to Kev and he's one of the groomsman!)
Field Trip from November 3, 2005 at St. John's. We were in 7th Grade.
We learned how to salsa dance in this class in middle school. Ask Kev about this one!
