Our story officially began in the last semester of our Senior Year of High School. Of course, we had been going to school together since the second grade, but like the procrastinators we are, we decided to wait until right before graduation to officially start dating. One day, after many pleas from Matthew and some hardcore lobbying from Tammy, Megan finally agreed to go on a date with Matthew. Our first date was to the local putt putt and go-kart place. After a round of miniature golf and being denied the go-karts because someone wore sandals, we ended the night by going to Chick-Fil-A. After a few dates and growing affection, one issue remained... We were both planning on attending different colleges and did not want to do a long-distance relationship (more on that later).
Well, God works in mysterious ways and Megan got the opportunity to start her collegiate soccer career at the University of Oklahoma, which happened to be the school Matthew knew he would attend from the moment he could say Boomer Sooner. We spent two and a half years together at OU where our relationship grew daily. We got to spend almost every day together, and we know Matthew loved cheering on his favorite athlete at his favorite school.
Then, during our Fall Semester of Junior Year, Megan had the opportunity to further her academic and athletic career. So much for us not wanting to do long distance because in the Spring of 2021, Megan enrolled at Villanova University. For the next two years, our love, trust, and relationship grew stronger and stronger. Especially when Matthew stood through a hurricane to watch Megan play soccer haha.
Then, on April 1st, 2023, we moved into our first apartment and later that evening, got engaged on the same stage where we watched Cody Johnson perform when we first started dating. It has been a rollercoaster journey, but neither of us would change a thing about it.
