Our Wedding

You could say our story started long before we ever realized it. We both grew up in & around Miller—just not quite at the same time. Megan is a few years older, so while Colton was still in high school, Megan was fresh out of college, supervising his study hall (yes, really!) At the same time, she was working at the local bar alongside Colton’s older brother. Fast forward about five years, and Colton started working at Turtle Creek too. What began as just being coworkers turned into a friendship—late nights, shared shifts, and lots of laughs. We got to know each other without any pressure, just as friends, and somewhere along the way, that friendship quietly deepened.

How We Met

As small-town stories tend to go, rumors started to fly that something was going on between us. Funny thing is… there wasnt anything going on. Not yet… but the idea stuck with us. We figured, why not see if there really was something more? So, we gave it a try. And what we found was that the best relationships don’t start with sparks or grand gestures—they start with friendship, trust, and a whole lot of laughter. They say you should marry your best friend. We just didn’t realize we were taking that advice quite so literally—until now.

Maybe Something More?

It was a Saturday — April 19th, to be exact — and we were getting ready for a quick trip to Huron. Part grocery run, part belated birthday lunch for Megs. Megan had recently lost her dog, Sophie, and Colton’s dad had made a special headstone for Sophie's grave at the farm. That morning, Colton mentioned his dad had placed it and asked if she wanted to stop and see it before heading to town.What Megan didn’t know was that Colton had purchased a ring a few weeks earlier with plans to propose sometime in the summer. But he couldn’t wait any longer — and the night before, he decided that Saturday was the day.It was a beautiful day, and we’ll take any excuse to go to the farm. We walked up the hill to see the stone. Colton, who never sits still for long, wandered off — nothing out of the ordinary — until Megan turned around and saw him down on one knee.Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe it. We had talked about the future, even marriage, but Megan was absolutely not expecting a proposal that day. He asked. She said a few choice adult words in disbelief… and then said yes.It was intimate and perfect — just the two of us, in a place that means so much to us both, beginning the next chapter of our story.

Think “spiffy” with comfort in mind. The ceremony will be outdoors so please plan for sun and possible breeze—light layers, comfortable shoes for grass, and a hat or sunglasses if you’d like. Dresses, jumpsuits, or dressy separates and collared shirts or sport coats are all welcome; ties are optional. We want you to look nice but feel relaxed as we celebrate outside.
