John and Megan’s love story began when John worked for FedEx Express and Megan worked at The Four Graces Winery in 2022. John’s courier route was in wine country and so he would pick up and deliver packages everyday at Four Graces. Little did Megan know, John had quickly developed eyes for the red headed winery girl! Little did John know, Megan was making up any feasible excuse to be in the room when John the FedEx guy was stopping by.
Small talk between the two began in early Spring. Conversations about the weather, how overwhelmingly warm John was with his long hair on his neck (which he had grown out during the pandemic), and did we mention the weather? By early Summer, John and Megan had connected over their shared life accomplishment of both having earned Bachelor degrees from George Fox University! John graduated in 2020 and Megan in 2021, and though their time at school overlapped, they had never crossed paths.
John started taking occasional lunch breaks at the winery after picking up packages where he would visit with Megan. John truly believed he was being subtle. Meanwhile, the entire staff at Four Graces would tease Megan whenever the FedEx truck showed up. Everyone knew.
One day in Mid-July, to Megan’s surprise, John stopped while on lunch, even though there were no pickups scheduled for that day. John explained that his route had been changed and he would no longer be her regular FedEx guy. It was in this moment that Megan realized how much she looked forward to seeing John, and how she would miss seeing him. At the same time, John had been loosing sleep over trying to acquire the courage to ask Megan out, considering the small moments they shared together were already cherished by him. They both wanted more time together, and when John drove away that day via FedEx truck, they both could feel in their souls that this wasn’t the end of their story.
The last, and most successful time John visited the winery was on August 19th. Megan was bringing a charcuterie platter out to a table when she saw John in the doorway, standing in his uniform of black and purple. She quickly delivered the platter as fast as possible and then returned to John and pressed, “Are you going to ask for my number this time?!”. Yes, indeed.
The two went on their first date to Red Hills Market on August 23rd, 2022 at 6:30pm. Megan noticed his crisp shirt with fold creases and spotless white shoes and appreciated his brand new outfit. The two connected, realizing quickly how much they had in common and how immediately real this felt. Both were raised in Christian households, both are family oriented, both born in the same week (though different years), with Megan’s birthday being the 8th of July and John’s being the 10th. What mattered most was their visions for their future were aligned: to find a lifetime companion, to have a family, and to relish every moment that God blessed them with. Megan and John truly have always been two hearts connected by the Lord’s invisible string.
