By Air:
The closest airport is General Mitchell International Airport (MKE). It is a convenient 15 minute Uber/car ride to downtown.
Chicago's two major airports (ORD and MDW) offer another alternative to fly. From there, you can take an Amtrak from Union Station, which is about a 90 minute train ride to downtown Milwaukee, or rent a car to drive, which would run between one and a half to two hours to downtown Milwaukee, depending on which airport you arrive at.
By Car/Foot/Public Transit:
Milwaukee is easily accessible by Uber and Lyft. It is also very walkable around downtown. For something different, try out the Hop, Milwaukee's street car, which makes a few stops around the downtown area.
