The Beginning

Megan and Drake began their journey as two independent, driven, individuals who unexpectedly crossed paths...at the right time. One random night, Megan was hanging out with her friend Erin and they were aimlessly swiping through people on dating apps, as they sometimes did. Megan opened ''Bumble'' and didn't realize that she swiped right on Drake. The two things she remembered from his dating profile were 1. He liked The Office and 2. He had taken a selfie with "McDreamy" aka Patrick Dempsey. Megan is an avid lover of both the show and the actor. For those who don't know much about Bumble, the female has to send a message to the male first, or else there is no interaction. So Megan decided to take the initiative and send a "Hey". Much to her surprise, she received a hello back from Drake. The rest is history.

Just kidding, there's more. That same night that Drake responded, Megan went to trivia night at Cowbell Restaurant in Scarborough with a few of her friends. As they walked in, Megan noticed a group of guys sitting by the window. As she and her friends were seated directly next to them, she realized it was Drake and his friends. Megan quickly looked away and quietly told her friends how she was positive that was the guy she just matched with on the dating website. Little did she know, Drake was doing the exact same thing. The entire night, Megan refused to turn around, as she had her back to Drake's table and wasn't sure if he would recognize her or not since they had only exchanged a "hi" to each other online. Not 5 minutes after trivia was over and they were on their separate ways home, Megan received another message from Drake asking "Were you at trivia night?" Instead of just saying yes and admitting that she saw him, Megan responded that she was indeed there, but did not see him.

After a couple more brief run-in's at trivia night for a couple weeks, and they exchanged a few words here and there in person, Drake finally mustered up the courage to ask Megan on a date. They went to what is now one of their favorite restaurants to go together to, Run of the Mill, and took a drive around Biddeford Pool where Drake attended college at the University of New England. After he dropped Megan off back at her house in Old Orchard Beach and gave her a hug, a text from him shortly followed..."Hey I just wanted to say that I had a really nice time with you and would love to go out again..."

Time Apart

From there on, the two developed a relationship built on love, laughter, respect, and lots and lots of SpongeBob quotes. 2 months into the relationship, long-distance was introduced, and it would be that way for what felt like an eternity! Megan had to return home to Milton, Vermont while Drake remained in Hollis, Maine, and the two towns are 4 hours apart. They exchanged weekends driving down to visit each other when they could (and when their work schedule wasn't so busy). They made it work, but it grew more challenging. When Megan would return to Maine to start her Masters degree, Drake had to leave for basic training for the army in South Carolina. For 2 and a half months, they communicated only through hand-written letters and once a week phone calls that ranged anywhere from 5 minutes to (sometimes luckily) an hour. But their love for each other continued to grow.

5 months later...Megan flies down to Fort Jackson, South Carolina to see Drake for the first time in about 90 days! He was not allowed to move from his formation until he was touched by a chosen family member, and he wanted that family member to be Megan. That was an embrace the two will never forget. Fast forward 2 days, and they are forced to split apart AGAIN for 2 more months (with the exception of a 2 week Christmas break). Megan flew solo to celebrate Drake's Officer Candidate School graduation and they have valued every moment together ever since. Now they are reunited after another 5 months apart and are looking forward to celebrating with you!

Megan and Drake enjoy doing the simplest things together in life. They love going for walks, going on runs, running errands, cooking, taking trips to Vermont to visit Megan's family, and snuggling up rewatching old episodes of SpongeBob or enjoying a Celtics game.

If the two have learned anything from all the time spent apart, it is to cherish every single moment together. They surely do not take anything for granted!

The Proposal

On August 19, 2023, Megan woke up to Drake on one knee asking her to marry him. It was the easiest yes of her life and the most BEAUTIFUL ring! They spent the day together doing things they love.
