Megan & Jody

How did they meet?

The couple met at Eureka College in August of 2009. It was actually Megan's first weekend on campus and they met briefly at a party where mutual friends were gathered. The following day Megan was eating dinner with some of her floor mates when she mentioned that she met a guy named Jody the night before who she thought was cute. Her friends told her to give him a call and Megan responded saying "No way, that would make me look like a stalker".... So naturally, Megan's friends ask Jody's friends for his phone number, call Jody from Megan's cell phone and make her take the call. Although she was mortified at the time, she's thankful the call was made.

Fast forward 8 years into the future, Jody loves to tell people that Megan pursued him because he's quite the catch.... and Megan reluctantly agrees.... :)

The proposal

This is not your typical proposal story! Jody proposed on April 30th, 2016 but Megan had been hoping he'd propose for years. Back in 2010, Jody took Megan on a date, gave her a ring and told her that he wanted to be with her for a very long time. The night Jody proposed, he recreated that date. He took her to dinner and brought her back to Eureka College where they met. (At this point Megan knew - this is it!) They walked around campus and Jody said, "well I guess we should go back home"... Megan thought "He blew it. This was the perfect opportunity to propose" and hopped in his truck to go home.

Then Jody said "Remember that date I took you on when I told you I wanted to be with you for a very long time? I still feel that way". Jody took a ring box out of the center console and hands her the box. Megan yelled at him: "Ive waited 7 years for this! Get out of this truck, get down on one knee and do this right!". Jody laughed and told her to open the box.

Megan always said that she didn't need a big fancy ring. She'd be happy with a plain band as long as he got down on one knee to ask. But when Megan opened the box, she saw the ugliest ring...she could live with that but she was livid that he just handed her the box instead of getting down on one knee to pop the question.

Jody told Megan they should go celebrate with a drink at the bowling alley where they spent alot of time during their college years. They walked in and unbeknownst to her, several of Megan's friends were waiting for them to arrive and congratulate them on their engagement. They could tell Megan didn't look very happy when she was telling them the proposal story and showed off her ugly ring.

Jody came over to Megan and said, "don't worry, I have one more surprise for you". Jody got down on one knee and pulled a second ring box out of his pocket. He opened the box and asked her to marry him (the right way :).

Megan screamed "Oh Thank God!" Pulled off the ugly ring and accepted the real proposal.
