Her Take:
We met the way most people in our generation do nowadays; on the internet. For our first date, I had him meet me at my mother’s restaurant. I knew Zach loved to cook, so what better way to impress the man than to show him around a restaurant after-hours. Shortly after, I drove him around on a once-in-a-lifetime tour of Hutchinson, KS. Our first date ended as all first dates should, with him meeting my mother. After that initial date, we were inseparable. I could not believe I had found someone who was not only as devilishly handsome, but also as smart, kind, funny, and good-natured as Zach. I had hit the dating jackpot. When the world changed after the pandemic, we knew we’d have to figure out some things to do to keep us busy. We tried figuring out the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe (Zach baked and I did the taste tests), tried out being vegetarians (didn’t last long), and binged watched the Tiger King series. These trials and tribulations only strengthened our relationship. Fast forward to March of 2021 on a family ski trip when Zach, his wonderful family, and I were atop a mountain in Vail, CO. This is where Zach would propose. He had to act quickly to get that perfect mountain top scene for the proposal as I had fallen about a hundred times attempting to ski down the first slope and decided I wanted to go back to flat land where I belong. Thankfully, with his family’s help, he was able to propose on top of that mountain, and there’s even a video to prove it. I am so thankful to be a part of Zach’s life, and I can’t wait to see what exciting things we have in store for our future. He is my sunshine, and I love him more than anything.
His Take:
We first met at Megan's mother's restaurant, the Firehouse Cafe. Megan had decided that the best place to meet a stranger was a secluded brick building, and I agreed. I felt like I could see Megan's very spirit when I first saw her. She was outside of the building playing with the strays. I was stricken-smitten with the kitten-whisperin' lass. We had a lovely date consisting of seeing the prison, pretending I was a fan of her favorite food, sushi, and meeting her mom in her jammies. I couldn't wait to tell everyone I knew about this wonderful woman. We spent the pandemic together, and it only strengthened our relationship. I would propose on a mountain after 1 1/2 years because that was presumably where my love shouts would reach the most people. I feared that the warmth of love may cause an avalanche, but luckily, we decided to depart down the gondola before any tragedy struck. Megan is everything I ever wanted, and I love her so much.
