Rick and Megan met on a dating app at the end of May 2023. Conversation lead them to realize they had SO much in common, it was almost hard to believe. They decided they needed to meet in person. Before you know it, Megan was agreeing to meet Rick for the first time for cosmic bowling with Rick and most of the Sikes siblings (Rick is one of 5!). After a successful evening, the pair decided to go out for a real date the following day. 5 hours later, they had covered most important topics, realized maybe it wasn't too good to be true and were getting kicked out of the closing restaurant. Rick met Megan's family the next day.

The next couple of months were a whirlwind of dates, getting to know each other, meeting friends and family, volunteering together, watching Star Wars (which Megan had never seen and don't worry, they watched 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3), celebrating both of their birthdays, church and prayer. Rick and Megan put their trust in the Lord that if this relationship was from Him, it would thrive, flourish and ultimately lead them to marriage.

After a couple of family vacations that went smoothly, the two saw that this relationship was definitely from God and they were excited to see where the future would take them. The world may say it was "too fast" and question whether Rick and Megan could actually know they want to be together forever after such a short period of time. Their testimony is that the timing of their relationship was in God's perfect time. They believe, with Christ at the center of their relationship, any challenge that comes their way is only going to bring them closer to Jesus.

After visiting a ring store so Rick could get an idea of Megan's ring style, the holiday season became a waiting game for Megan. If you know Rick, you know how calm, cool and collected he is ALL THE TIME. He stayed calm up until moments before he asked. Finally, on December 23rd, Rick schemed to get Megan to Peter's Lake Park where the two sat on a park bench together. Rick got down on one knee and asked Megan to spend forever with him. To no one's surprise, SHE SAID YES!
