No RSVP needed for Utah Open House! We are excited to celebrate with you!
We met in the most romantic of places... the Tanner Building in Finance 453 class at BYU. I sat alone in the very front of the class, and Caleb sat a few rows back. He later claims he thought the back of my head was very cute. We were in a group project together (somehow Caleb doesn't remember this). A couple of years went by and Caleb, to this day, says that I would always act like we never met when he would say hi.
After college, I moved to Austin, TX and a year later, in Feb 2024, Caleb moved to Austin, too. The first Sunday Caleb came to church, I did not act like we had never met. We became friends instantly. I coerced him into watching the current season of Survivor, but little did I know how big of a commitment we were both signing up for (but a great move on my part). Each week, Caleb looked forward to coming over to watch and would stay until the wee hours of the morning chatting. As the months went by and my patience wore increasingly thin, he eventually got his head screwed on straight and asked me out.
We started dating in July and had 1.5 glorious months of dating before Caleb's first hip surgery. His surgery left him unable to walk or drive for 9 weeks. I fulfilled my newly appointed title of "girlfriend" and now "nurse" by taking care of him. This wasn't the last time I had to take care of him from surgery. A year later, after months of consistent rehab, another surgery was needed to fix the underlying issue. It was déjà vu all over again... and let me tell you, I got pretty dang good at doing his hip circles.
Despite the challenging moments, we are always finding ways to have fun. I treasure our time paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake, boating with friends, working out together, going on our daily walks, and playing games (especially word games).
I am beyond excited to marry my greatest supporter and my best friend. How lucky I am to get to live the rest of this life and eternity with Caleb by my side.
