Varun and Megan were both members of the SoCal Young Professionals Hiking meetup, and one Saturday morning the club hosted a hike at the Hummingbird Trail in Simi Valley. Varun had been to many of the club's hikes, but it was Megan's first time. Despite the numerous attendees, they spent at least half of the 6 hour hike talking to each other. By the end of the hike, Varun thought Megan would make an ideal hiking partner, and Megan thought Varun was the easiest person to talk to she had met in a long, long time; she happily gave him her number when he asked.
From that day on, they grew closer over lots of foodie dates, hiking, concerts, and adventures. As they met each other's families and learned about each other's cultures they discovered that their goals and values were aligned, and they learned to celebrate their differences while keeping true to themselves. Their love grew day by day, and after a trip to India to attend Varun's sister's wedding, they began to picture a life together.
Varun proposed in July of 2024 surrounded by their families at sunset. For Megan, it was the easiest "yes" of her life. Now, they look forward to showing their cultures and traditions to the other's friends and family in a traditional Catholic and Hindu wedding over the span of four days, and they can't wait to start this next chapter of their lives together.
