Meghan and Tyler’s story technically started in middle school, but things didn’t get interesting until high school. They were always in the same friend group, both secretly crushing on each other but too shy to say anything (classic teenage rom-com energy). Freshman year of high school, Meghan almost ended up at the school dance with someone else—her best friend Remington—until she caught wind that Tyler might ask her instead. Of course, Remington beat him to it, but Meghan had to follow her heart (sorry, Rem), and the rest is history... or at least the a slow burn until junior year. That’s when they finally started talking again and Tyler took Meghan on their first official date—to Chipotle. Burritos and butterflies, what more could you want? From that point on, they were inseparable: homecomings, proms, countless sporting events, different colleges, and eventually both Buckeyes at Ohio State. Since then, they moved to a new state, survived their first apartment (and all the furniture building that came with it), bought their first home, and added the sweetest pup, Charlie, to the family. Tyler popped the question on a trip to Hawaii (major upgrade from Chipotle). During their trip to Maui, Tyler suggested they go on a quick hike before dinner. Naturally, Meghan was suspicious. When she asked if she should wear athletic clothes, he said, “No, wear something nice.” (For a hike?) Then Meghan pointed out they probably wouldn’t have time to do the full loop, and he replied, “That’s fine—we only need about 15 minutes.” Oh, and they had to rush because “the sun was setting soon.” Very subtle, Tyler. By the time they reached the scenic spot on the Kapalua Coastal Trail, the sunset was gorgeous, the ocean view was perfect—and then Tyler did the most un-Tyler thing ever: he set up his phone on a rock to take a photo. That’s when Meghan knew. Tyler does not take photos unless something big is about to go down. And sure enough, with the waves behind them and the sky glowing, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. She said yes, and now here we are—almost 10 years later, still best friends, still crushing, and finally getting married.
