Our Wedding

Like many modern day fairytales, John and I met on Bumble in February 2022. After spending some time talking on the app, we had our first date on February 26th at The Lucky Monk in South Barrington. Through our many early conversations we quickly realized we had many things in common such as our common career choice, as well as our love for dogs, puzzles, and pumpkin spice lattes. While our busy schedules made it hard to see each other regularly at first, we quickly fell into a routine of talking daily and making time for each other a priority. By the end of that school year we were finding time to see each other multiple times throughout the week and made things official on June 11th, 2022. As time went on we fell in love and decided to move in with one another in April 2023. We worked together to turn the condo into a home, and John became a dog dad to Domino. Over the months since we have had countless hours of fun, love, and laughter together. It didn't take us long to know we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, and on December 3rd, 2023 John proposed. Both of us are beyond excited to start this next chapter of our love story and can't wait to share it with the ones we love.

Have you heard the expression distance makes the heart grow fonder? Well we can attest to that. Not having lived in the same state since 2012, our friendship has managed to grow closer. I served as Amy’s maid of honor and now she gets to return the favor. She has also been a big help in planning in the wedding, which was a breeze for her since we've been planning my wedding since sophomore year of high school.

She is my sister and lifelong friend since day one. While there are times I thought we couldn't be any more different growing up, we ending up sharing a lot of similar interests such as dance classes, Harry Potter, and our careers in teaching. We may not always see eye to eye, I got her in trouble for no reason and she told me Santa wasn't real, but there is no question in needing her by my side when I say I do.

I couldn’t have asked for a better childhood best friend. Anni and I took dance classes together, went to Girl Scouts together, and were all around besties. She moved part way through elementary school, but we made sure to keep our friendship a priority. So naturally I was excited when I moved back from Texas to be closer, but we ended up switching places as she moved down there shortly before I came back!

My first college bestie! Morgan and I bonded over our love of country music and concerts. Unfortunately she transferred schools sophomore year and we lost touch for a bit. However, Domino brought us back together by giving something to connect over again. We rekindled our friendship and do everything we can to stay in touch and be present in each others' lives, even though we don't live near each other.

The song "I'll Be There for You" just scratches the surface of our friendship. Kelly and I met in college and clicked over our love of country music and the show Friends. Sharing the same major allowed us to spend extra time together. After college we stayed in touch from afar, connecting on our careers, Domino, and her kiddos. When we do finally get to see each other again it is like no time has passed.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "opposites attract"? I couldn't think of a better phrase to describe my friendship with Callie. We worked at the same school while I was living in Houston and we immediately clicked as friends despite not having many common interests. She has always been a big supporter in my career, setting up my home, and caring for Domino.

My sister and one of my best friends. She's the person who has known me my whole life, and can put me in my place when I need it. She has never beaten me in a game of Monopoly, can handle her liquor better than anyone in this wedding party, and is an avid Taylor Swift fan (the Chiefs suck). Ask her about beating me in rock climbing for a good story.

My little brother who is way taller than me. Not just my brother but one of my best friends. Greg has a heart of gold, but probably won't read this. So do me a favor and always say to him that the plural of moose is meese.

Ruben and I have been close ever since I moved out to Illinois in 2006. He's a guy that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He is my Valentine for life. Ask him about that for a good story.

Sterling is one of the funniest and strongest people I know. I think he could squat a car. We became friends when we were in high school, and got even closer during college. Fun fact, he knows more boy band songs than you.

Arbie was my first friend when I moved out to Illinois. We have been through a lot together, and have endless stories. We spent countless hours playing basketball, playing cards, and wandering Walmart. Ask him about us getting stuck driving in a blizzard.

Kris was one of my first friends when moving out to Illinois. We spent countless hours playing basketball, cards, and board games. He throws great Halloween parties. Give him a couple of words and he can make them rhyme.
