Our paths first crossed in 2013 at the University of Oregon, but it wasn’t until a blue moon night—October 26, 2020—that we officially met in San Diego.
That evening, Meghan was at a small get-together when her friend Amanda invited a few guys over. Among them: Edwin, along with his best friends, Dex and Jarrod. From the moment we started talking, we discovered just how much we had in common—our shared time at U of O, our love for track, and a similar sense of humor. Edwin came in confident, promising to wine and dine Meghan on their first date. She assumed it might be just a fun night—but Edwin had other plans. That same evening, he told his roommate, “I think I just met my wife.”
A few days later, he kept his promise and took Meghan to Juniper & Ivy for their first date—marking the beginning of many amazing meals and unforgettable adventures. Within six months, we had spent Thanksgiving in Big Bear, rang in the New Year in Sedona, and went snowboarding in Park City for Valentine’s Day. It didn’t take long to realize—this was something rare, something real.
We took our time building a strong foundation. Meghan lived in Little Italy, Edwin in Pacific Beach. We spent weekends together but kept our own routines, creating a relationship grounded in trust, independence, and deep respect. Meghan had one rule: a good morning text every day. Edwin never missed a single one.
In 2023, we took the next step. Meghan moved into Edwin’s condo in January, and it felt effortless—like everything had clicked into place. Just a few months later, life changed in a way we never expected. In April, Meghan’s mom, Chris, passed away, turning her world upside down. Edwin became Meghan’s rock—her steady, loving presence during the hardest chapter of her life. Through grief, our love only deepened.
That fall, we brought home our sweet (and sassy) English bulldog, Luna—who won Edwin over instantly. And in January 2024, we bought our first home in Clairemont, spending our days turning it into a space that reflects us—from backyard projects to decorating for the holidays.
Then came June 28, 2024. Edwin planned a “surprise” road trip, telling Meghan only to pack for cold weather and an eight-hour drive. She suspected a proposal might be coming... but thought they were headed to Napa. Three hours in, she realized the truth: they were returning to Sedona, the place where so many memories began.
Staying at the same hotel from their first trip, everything came full circle. The next evening, with the sun setting behind Cathedral Rock, Edwin led Meghan to a quiet overlook, dropped to one knee, and asked her to spend forever with him. Two hidden photographers captured the moment—photos that now hang in our home, a daily reminder of the day everything changed.
Now, we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with the people who mean the most—our family and friends who have been part of our love story all along.
