(Kyle): I was a typical college aged male. Stubborn, overconfident, and completely in charge. I knew exactly what was best for me. Well maybe not...and thankfully I had a friend that wasn't afraid to let me know I indeed did NOT know what was best for me! Mel Skadson was a friend that I had met in college through Delta Sigma Pi. We were sitting in class one day when Mel put it bluntly. "Kyle, my friend Meghan is a good fit for you. I think you should get to know her!" I agreed and suggested she bring her over to my house the next time I had a party. She did, and the rest is history. Letting someone else make a recommendation for me was the best decision I ever made! The last 3.5 years have been the best of my life!(Meghan): My "big" in Delta Sigma Pi suggested we go to her friend Kyle's house for a party. It wasn't until later that I discovered Mel had a plan in mind. What she didn't remember is that I had already met Kyle...once. I got locked out of a Winona State building and was running late for a meeting. Mel asked Kyle to let me in. He came down to first floor, let me in, and rushed ahead as I tried to start a conversation with him. Geesh, Seniors...too good for the Sophomores?Guess not, because when I met Kyle again at his house he was friendly, fun, and cute! We played tennis, went on a few dates, and quickly became a couple. It's crazy how time flies - I can't wait to marry my best friend and soulmate :)

Mel Knows Best

(Kyle): Meghan and I had gone to a nice restaurant called "The Waterfront" on the Mississippi River in LaCrosse, WI for our anniversary. They asked what we were celebrating, and we let them know we were out to celebrate 3 very happy years together. At the end of dinner they brought out a dessert plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. I remember seeing it and thinking to myself what a great way it would be to propose. I told Meghan I wanted to go back to celebrate her graduating from Winona State and she agreed that it would be a fun night. I called ahead and requested that they make a fancy dessert to end the night that had the words "Will You Marry Me?" in chocolate. I was so nervous all day even though I knew what the answer would be! It was such a great feeling when dinner was over and the dessert finally came out. She made me the luckiest guy ever! (Meghan): I knew something was up. It was nearing graduation and my job hunt was in the works. I traveled home to the cities quite often for interviews and happened to go home on a Friday, the same weekend Kyle and I had planned to go to the Waterfront restaurant to celebrate my graduation. I told Kyle it was a bummer we would have to re-schedule, but he seemed rather insistent we drive back to Winona on Saturday. On Friday night, Kyle's phone buzzed on the couch next to me. He was out of the room. While I'm not normally too nosey, I thought I'd take a peek. I grabbed for his phone, but hadn't read the message before my mom blurted "NO!" She gave an odd reason that I later forgot, but it had me thinking...Kyle's not going to propose yet, right? I later found out the text was about the next evening...We drove back to Winona the next day and then to "The Waterfront" restaurant. The food was AMAZING; broccoli cheese soup, crab cakes, steak with gorgonzola! I was stuffed. Kyle mentioned desert and I started to protest, but it didn't take too much convincing. The cake came out with "Will You Marry Me?" written in chocolate. I immediately started crying and Kyle rushed over to my side to get on one knee. The staff looked over and smiled, and the old couple near us peered over the booth and inquired, "Did she say yes?!" Of course I did! They came over and wished us well, and we talked for a few minutes. It made a special night even better and made us think, maybe we'll be a cute, old couple like them some day!

A block of rooms has been reserved at a special rate if reserved by June 6th, 2015. Please mention the Huber/Johnson wedding party when making your reservations.Room with 2 Queens: $99Room with 1 King: $94A shuttle will be provided from the reception to the hotel between 8:00pm and midnight. Vehicles left overnight at Olympic Hills will not be towed, but we ask that you please pick them up by 11:30am the following morning. You will need to find your own transportation back to Olympic Hills to retrieve your vehicle.
