For me, it started before we even met. I wanted to go to Murray State so bad, but it wasn't necessarily the affordable option. I had planned on having to stay home to choose a more economical option for school, especially because I had NO clue what I wanted to study. But, God had other plans.I applied for a scholarship that I barely met the requirements for, bombed the first interview, and then somehow got a second one. When my mom drove me down to Murray, KY for the second round of interviews, I was terrified. After my interview, I was thinking about all of the wrong things that I said and how I'd never get this scholarship, and then this cute guy with a pink and blue tie who held the door and referred to my mom as "ma'am" in a southern drawl that caught my attention. I didn't catch his name but decided to call him "honors farm boy" since he was also in the running for this fancy scholarship. I headed home thinking about how I'd probably never see him or Murray, Kentucky again. But, God had other plans.Somehow, I got the scholarship. Tears were shed both happy and sad when I packed up and moved south. After a challenging, yet rewarding, freshman year I returned to campus for sophomore year dreading the honors literature and philosophy class that I had to take. I just knew it would ruin my GPA and my life. But, God had other plans.In I walked to the dreaded class and saw honors farm boy sitting next to an open seat. His name turned out to be George. He has baby blue eyes and a smile that melts my heart. I took that seat and now I'm taking his last name!

Meghan and I first met while leaving a scholarship interview before we even enrolled at Murray State. She didn’t say much but her mom and I struck up a conversation walking from the door to our cars. The first time we really talked to each other was in our literature &amp; philosophy class in the Fall of 2016 when Meghan just so happened to sit right next to me on the first day of class. After a class or two we started talking as we left together and one night she asked me to study with her. I didn’t think she was interested in me but I really enjoyed spending time with her. Our discussions quickly went from Greek Literature to Greek Life, farming, and anything in between.After a couple of weeks I got the hint and asked Meghan on a date. I chose to take her to a Murray, KY staple- Dairy Queen. When we got up to order she got a slushee and confessed that she didn’t like ice cream. I was so embarrassed that when we got back to the dorms I gave her a high five and went back to my room thinking she would never talk to me again. Surprisingly, she gave me another shot and agreed to go on a second date with me. We went to the Bison Prairie in Land Between the Lakes and opted for shaved ice this time. As we talked and laughed with each other I realized just how special she is.&nbsp;After that date we kept studying and going out together. We fell in love, had many adventures in Murray, met each other’s families, and saw each other’s hometowns. During our time in Murray we lived down the hall from each other, across town, and even spent time on different continents, but I am most excited to live with her forever. I can’t imagine the last 4 years of my life without this amazing woman and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her!

Our Wedding Day in Response to COVID-19

We have been closely monitoring the international impacts of the novel Coronavirus since its beginning stages early this year. That being said, we have decided to move forward with our wedding day as planned and making adjustments as needed. Unfortunately, that means a more intimate guest list than originally anticipated and social distancing/mask guidelines in order to maintain the safety of those we love. We are so looking forward to celebrating with our friends and family and we promise to keep this page up to date should anything change! Update 11/20: Since Governor Beshear has now mandated that events now be capped at guest list of 25 for less, we have decided to move forward with a small gathering with our wedding party and immediate families. We are so sad that we will not be celebrating like we thought we would, but we are still excited to be entering the sacrament of marriage on December 5th.
