BROOKLINE, Mass. — After their first date, Scott thought his prospects with Meghan were grim.

After all, it had taken him about a year to work up the nerve to ask her out after they’d met the old-fashioned way — on Hinge, according to sources familiar with their dating history. And after enjoying a couple of glasses of wine in her luminescent presence, Scott had concerns.

“She is completely out of my league,” he told friends.

Meghan, meanwhile, was baffled that Scott had refused to make eye contact on their date.

“I was nervous!” he said in an interview.

Scott, of course, was smitten, and he considered it no small miracle when Meghan accepted his invitation to dinner the following weekend. He showed up at the restaurant with a stuffed lobster named Laverne, a token of his affection.

“At the time, I thought that was a real roll of the dice,” Meghan said. “Lucky for him, I love stuffies.”

It was the start of a magical relationship full of fun, adventure and Bravo reality programming.

On vacation in Hawaii, they learned that they travel well together — and that not all sunblock is waterproof. During two half-marathons, Scott watched as Meghan scampered off ahead of him, disappearing from view. (He was touched that she waited for him at the finish line both times.)

Last summer, before a trip to Paris, Scott thought he was playing it cool when he advised Meghan to “pack something nice for a fancy dinner.” He also told her to get her nails done.

"I knew something was up,” Meghan said.

Sure enough, during a harrowing cab ride to Qui Plume la Lune in the 11th arrondissement, a small jewelry box tumbled out of Scott’s pocket. Meghan pretended not to notice. Scott proposed later that night at a plaza overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

In August, two people who had always valued their independence moved in together, and they both soon came to the same conclusion: that they couldn’t imagine life without their weekend jogs along the Charles or their nightly excursions to "Club Couch" for marathon sessions of "Vanderpump Rules" or even their joint custody of Laverne.

No, they couldn’t imagine any of it, because they couldn’t imagine life without each other.
